99 670 ski doo stalling after 45 min. ride and wont start

My 99 670 ski doo stalls after riding between 15 to 45 minutes and will not restart, sometimes starts next day, seems to have a weak spark when this happens, pulled fly wheel and stator today, found a oily residue an gunk inside the fly wheel and on metal sides of stator. There was some oil dripping from the seal behind the stator. Could this residue in the fly wheel be my starting problem? Does anyone know how to test a stator and can I do this while its off the sled?​
