850 coupled Skid, Baker, K-Mod, others?? What's workin what's not?

After a few hundred miles and several attempts to tune the rear skid in my 850 to at least control the wheelie action and keep the skies down a little bit when climbing, I have given up, stock t-motion is junk. No matter how far forward you get or how far you lean over the hood, the second you start pulling anything steep it just wants to come over backwards, pulled limiter in, fiddled with torsion settings, tried softening up front shock, etc, etc. Looking for a simple skid upgrade with coupled rear scissor that maintains the T-motion concept. I've used Kmod in the past but shipping takes a while and it's a costly product. Hear lots from guys about the Baker set up but seems near impossible to get any info on it, no website or dealer network. Kiss coupler is an option but looks weak and quite gimmicky. Maybe somebody is using a different product that's worth trying.
Thoughts??

What about a simple solution like either moving your rear arm back slightly or a ZRP Zmotion rear arm?

Felt the same as you, when I drove the 850, stock skid a joke..

bakers is is better but still not what I see as perfect, drove one a few weeks back and dam near flipped it' we were out with a 850 turbo last week on a kmod, it seamed better. Again..

have there cells if you want to talk first hand

I'm quite happy with the Racer's Edge rear skid on my 850, in my opinion it rides considerably better than stock and does a great job of keeping the skis down but not to the point that they're glued to the snow, you can get the front end to come up if you want it to. Give Daryl a call- his shop number is 403-254-8686. I can't quote his exact prices but it should be considerably cheaper than $3500 CAD for a KMOD.

Thanks to everyone for all the info, the Zmotion looks like a great product but then I called Daryl and wow, he sounds like a great guy who loves what he does, gonna take it down and let him work his magic on it, I'll update with my thoughts on it after I get out again.

I personally would try heavier springs before swapping out the skid, with a better rear shock. I would combine it with a Kiss coupler or Fox. We are using both on turbo Yamaha's with good results.
springs are cheap and a coupler will run you about $1k and can be used on other sleds.
But there are great skids out there for the $$$$.

I love my kmod. The part of the day I like it the most is the trail down after riding all day. I watch my buddies on stock suspension just get beat up, standing to absorb the bumps. I always sit down and can usually pass them. Takes the buck right out of the sled best money ever spent.

I also love my k-mod with raptors, the ride is amazing and and easy to set-up, and you can adjust the amount of coupling

I watched the racers edge work this weekend and have had a one on another sled and hands down was the best skid I have owned, and it worked well on the 850 I was with. I haven't rode or rode with a k mod so I don't have a opinion. You won't be disappointed in your racers edge.

I run a few of bakers skids on my 174s, I prefer skis to never get higher than 6 inches anywhere on a climb, or in the trees..for that I had to upgrade rear spring to the heavier one.. For that reason I don't have the best ride down the rougher trail, but like it once in the deep for my liking.. I'm 220lbs

what I seen last week on the other turbo using the kmod, they had a quick adjust that gave them quick changes for rear spring pressure.. Pretty cool, but never got to see how well it performed in the steep and deep

Was sitting on that sled an hour and a bit ago. Darrell builds quality product. Have always loved my rear skids from him and service is the best.

You're aware Baker sells Mag Blocks that control the coupling to achieve that very effect right Fred?

Hearing good things on the Zbros kit as well. What are guys thoughts on it? Does it give a better feel for the stock T Motion than a fully coupled skid like Racers Edge does?
