Anyone run one and have feed back. I saw one today basically lt tires, better hubs and axles and an extra leaf in the back.

With an ecoboost crew 6.5 box 4x4 this truck is rated at 2310 lbs payload and tow of 11300 and will still get 14l/100 empty. On paper looks like a great heavy half costs 8 grand less than the comparable alternative gm2500hd, 6.0 gas pig 20l/100 payload is only 3150 tow 13000.

I have a 2012 lariat. It's a great truck, mileage isn't what's advertised but I can live with it. Tows 25 ft tt really well and hauls sleds fine. It has2" level and air bags also.

just me or does that seem ****ty?? buddies 6.7 1 ton gets better then that. my 7.3l gets same or better.

So with a deck, two loaded/wet sleds, two guys and gear, you will still be over weight (and that is at the scale and not just on paper).......:noidea:

Why are guys still looking a half tons to perform a heavy haul job?? Doo a search for "post by Ferniehawk" and see what you come up with.....:d

towing 11000lbs with a 1/2 ton v-6 is insane when you consider my dually F-350 has a 17000lb rating....the difference is chassis, drivetrain and braking is huge not to mention the weight of the tow vehicle....the thought of someone hooking onto a skidsteer with a 1/2 ton is scary as hell to me...the OEM's need to get their heads out of their butts and rethink these ratings, they are retarded

here is something most don't know,

There are provincial, territorial and state laws and regulations in place regarding towing an RV. For instance, in British Columbia if the weight of your trailer is more than 4,600 kilograms (10,120 pounds), you will need a Class 4 or 5 licence with a heavy trailer endorsement (Code 51). For more information, the RV Dealers' Association of Canada website has some excellent information regarding regulations for dimensions, towing safety, brake requirements and licensing regulations for each province and territory.

just because you can tow it doesn't mean its legal, if you are overweight and not insured or licensed for it, and have an accident you may not be covered by your insurer

I now own a 2011 ecoboost 7700 gvw and would never consider putting a deck on one I know it has the power to pull a fair sized trailer and as rated as such and the brakes and such are better than older 1/2 ton's but I would do a lot of research before buying an enclosed trailer. I now own a open 2 place. I do not think it is bad idea to have a trailer endorsement as I have buddy who wants to buy an enclosed trailer for his car and can not back up worth a s###. I used to have a 28 ft marathon enclosed which I pulled with both an F350 diesel and a F150 5.4lL. It is not a issue of power but as stated above braking and what not.

Good point and some salesmen should as well if you like the handling and interior of half ton and tell them you are going to tow 10500lb s they will sell you a half ton with a powerful engine

What you guys don't consider is actually get under these 1/2 tons and look at them. They aren't 1/2 ton trucks anymore. I have a 7700 gvw 6.2 powered fx4 f150 and in comparison to my 2004 GMC 2500 light duty... its not a ton different. The new Fords brakes are comparable size... the chassis isn't really any smaller and is fully boxed, it has a 9.75" rear diff under it etc.... That 04 GMC is rated for 10,300 lbs... this Ford is rated for 11,000. Where it counts they are nearly the same truck minus my Ford has 6 lug axles. Being my GMC is a non HD 2500 it has the 9.5" semi floater under it.... the frame drops to 6" c channel in the back instead of 8" all the way, has the 246 transfer case instead of a 263 etc.

I realize my Ford is a 1/2 ton and I don't have a sled deck nor want one. I do tow but no holiday trailers... That said with one of trucks on my car hauler and tipping the scale on the trailer near 9000 lbs the Ford didn't squat anymore than my 04 and 05 and performed fine.

We aren't talking about Mickey mouse trucks with 8.5" rear ends, full 6" channel frames and 11" disc brakes anymore. My GMC's gvw is 8600 lbs.... so not a lot more than the 8200 of the op's truck in question. What was 3/4 ton 10 years ago is now a half ton... and 1 tons are expected to replace highway tractors....

My wife has the same truck as you, 7700 gvw 6.2 crew with 6.5 box, we use his to pull a 9000 lb bumper pull and it does a great job, we used to pull this trailer with. 2010 f350, and flame suit on but the f150 definatley pulls it better.

I have one of these, 2014 f150 heavy duty (8200 gvw), it has 7 bolt hubs, bigger diff's, heavier shocks, extra leaf in back, larger radiator, bigger trans cooler, mine is the ecoboost, 6.5 box 4x4 lariat crew fully loaded, i'm rated at 1995 lbs payload and can tow 11100 lbs, I have 9000 kms on it so far and avg 13l/100 on highway empty at 115 kmph, 15.5l/city and I have pulled our 27 ft 2013 keystone cougar 5th whl 500 kms so far this year and my avg is 18.4/100 towing that. It pulls the trailer no problem, can set the cruise at 110 km and the way it goes, I have to however be more on the brakes going down hill. I'm happy with it so far, time will tell, the wife and I put 5000 to 7000 km a year towing the 5th wheel around western Canada, I will know by the end of the summer how I really like it. No other 1/2 ton even comes close to these things, I have weighed it at the scales with trailer (trailer weighs 9400 lbs fully loaded) and I'm within the legal weight capacities of this truck.

You must be close to your maximum payload. What's the old rule of thumb for 5th wheels? 20 % of trailer weight will be on the hitch.

My hitch weight of our 5th wheel is 1250 lbs, and yes I'm close to my max payload, 100 lbs to spare, fully loaded trailer with everything, full 60 gallon water tank, which is at the back of the trailer, full of propane, food, clothes, refreshments, generator and tools
