Hi all

I just bought an 06 800x and the belt on it is a 189 which looks like the belt for a 05-07 1000. The 166 has a length of 44 7/32" and the 189 has a length of 44 7/8", both have the same width.

Not sure if it's on there for a specific reason.

Ideas?

Cheers
Chris

The previous owner could have borrowed one up on the hill just to get home. It happened to me once and i forgot about it untill the spring. I couldn't remember why it was so hard to get off. DUH

Just looked in my owners manual, it calls for a 166. I'm confused I'll have to call the dealer. Does anyone know if the 377 replaces the 166????

Yes.

I had a 166 and they confirmed the 377 is the new belt. There was another one, but it was problematic and Doo doesn't sell it now.

So far I have probably 300 K on my 377 and works great. Only reason I stopped using the 166 is because of width wear, but it's now my spare belt becuase it's tried and tested.

Before you go swapping belts and wasting money, check the center to center of the clutches. Previous owner may have done something (good or bad) that affected the c to c of the clutching, necessitating a longer belt. If there is excessive gap at the front of the belt where it wraps around the primary then it is probably too long IMO.

Good idea! I'll measure it and hope it's stock. Do you know what the centre to centre should be?

Thanks for all replies
