what pitch are people running on there 75hp boats? mine is a 1976 johnson with a 17" pitch and it only runs at about 4600 rpm, at least a 1000 rpm below what it should. was thinking of going down to a 13" or 11" pitch... ideas?
have you always ran a 17? make sure its not your motor thats down on power before you pitch down, but for every inch of pitch you gain or lose 400 rpm, depending if you go up or down in pitch obvioulsy, heres a propm finder from a good shop in edmonton ab. Propeller Wizard
Well this has been a project boat, as i received it from a relative who said it never did work properly from day one. I found a broken ring on piston, fixed that and now she runs strong on all 3 cyl. good compression + spark. According to the service manual, 15" pitch is what they come stock with. i ordered a 13" so we'll see what happens i guess... that is a pretty big jump, from 17" to 13", but i need at least 1000 more rpm..
holy, 6000 really??? thats a lil too much imo, i never run anythin over 5000-5500 @ work, oh and i checjed a couple older 75 hp's, there runnin 15's, thats a typical pitch on em my boss told me so id start there. we sell props for 99$, an a removeable lifetime warrenty hub for 45 i think, we also ship, lemme know if ya want our contact info,
