So was following another thread so I thought I would remove the foam in the airbox. Not going to remove 5 lbs of plastic in a 3.3 lb airbox.

Got the hood all back together. Gotta say that was the biggest waste of time ever. Didn’t bother to weigh the foam.

Had a great ride this weekend in McBride. Was able to finally test my skid modifications, billet head, gearing change and airbox mod. Have to say the new skid location really gets the Alpha out of the snow fast. BDX new billet spindles should be getting shipped this week so can’t wait to get them on.
The SSI billet head and gearing change makes the Alpha pull really hard. Also installed 4 frog skins in the nose cone to get colder air. Sled never ran out of air with the snow covering the hood all day.
Will also be ordering a BDX billet brake lever. Had to ride half the day with no brake lever. Brushed a pine cone and the lever snapped off. Good thing the snow was deep enough to slow me down.

Im curious to see when you have the BDX spindles on what the height is compared to the elevate kit as well as with your a arms too . I know lots of guys were upset they couldnt buy just the spindles so its nice there is some more options out there.

Yeah these look awesome! I have a 3rd option that will be arriving in my hands as well this week. It’s going to be interesting to see how the 3 options compare

doo share when they get here. My one knock on the alpha, besides the cracked clutch, is that they sit a bit low in the snow. Lots of drag at take off especially in wet snow.

for me I'd keep the foam in, My view of it is that from all the water that does find its way through your top screens, that foam will help to catch it so it doesn't find its way into your throttle bodies. air flow wise it wouldn't inhibit anything really.

I completely agree. Leave the hood together, seal the gaps and doo frog skins in the nose cone if you want/need more air.

They do sit low stock. Got mine sitting a lot better.

If you want a little more lift on a budget you can try this. Drill the bottom hole out in the inside plate. The hole is already on the inside plate. Drop the rear skid into the bottom hole. That will get you 3/4” higher out of the snow. Doesn’t sound like much but makes a huge difference. You will lose a little ski pressure on a already skiddish trail sled but up top will help a lot. You can also buy just the lower arms from Benny to give you more clearance up front.
I had hit my kill switch(which I need to relocate) in that deep snow, I backed up a foot and pinned it, and the Alpha popped out like it was nothing. Left a huge coffin.
