Friend picked up a 2011 xp and the hand warmers don't work. Already changed the grips to no avail.
Any help would be appreciated.

Are they wired properly? Check to see if you have juice to the plug from the engine side?

Are you are above the required RPM for them to work?
Can't remember the rpm but someone will chime in.
The 2014's are at a lower rpm.

I have a 2011 and the grips won't warm up until just about the point the clutch kicks in i.e. I can just get them to kick in when in the shop and revving the engine with the brake on.

Here's an update.
The sled quit on him on the weekend. Took it in to turples for a diagnostic. Found low voltage on mag and pto sides and voltage reg problems.

On the plus side the kid found out that the sled has two days of warranty left.
