Just got dealer to change mine in my 09 M1000 and they used the 5203 and no machining required for 09 they said, and he has changed several with no issues. My stock bearing had 1000miles on from last year and was still in good shape. Changed it just to be safe!

so can anyone confirm what is the right bearing to get? 4203 or the 5203?

5203 from what i have read.

sorry i just read one page back on this thread and the 4203 sounds like it would be the one to use and not have to machine anything. I am going to talk to commercial solutions and see if they have both the 5203 and the 4203 and compare them. I would really like to do this without having to machine anything.

Bunch of us need to change our DD bearings.
From what I've read, change out the 6203 bearing with a 4203 bearing. (and not the 5203 bearing that will require you to do some machining)
The higher the number, the wider the bearing. Use a higher quality bearing like SKF.
The bearing might be aka 4203-2RS.
Here is a link of what you might look for. (I'm looking in Edmonton for a place that carries it)

I'm still digging out info for my 09 M8.
good luck.

So what did you find?

I talked with a few different people and the 09's and up should'nt need to be machined because of the electronic reverse. The one's with mechanical reverse will need to be machined with the 5203 bearing. I also talked to commercial solutions and they could'nt find a 4203 in there books but cross referenced the dimensions( 4203 17x40x16mm) with a different number (2203 or 3203) can't remember. I just ordered the BDX full bearing kit so i know i will have the right one and i might as well replace all the bearings in there while i have it apart. When i get it apart i will share my findings.

OK so I just finished mine , I ended up going to commercial solutions and getting a 3203 bearing , they said that this is the replacement for a 5203 as that number is no longer used . went back together with no problems.

Ya my bearing had come completely apart, i'm not sure how i even loaded my sled in my truck. I am really happy that i ordered the whole replacement kit even though the other bearings seemed fine, now they will all be new. i was not very happy when i got the BDX kit as it comes with the stock OEM size 6203 bearing that is prone to failure so i had to order the 5203.
