Anyone know anything about this chip that I just bought off of E-Bay?
It is called powertuning.2009 Performance chip.
1.Locate CTS Sensor Coolant Temperature

2.INSTALL CHIP

when you locate CTS,disconnect battery, ignition turn off
Then unplug two wire connector and plug chip in instead of CTS sensor
Once installed tie back or fasten the wires in a safe place (tape, silicone)
Reconnect the battery.
Start the motor and hold at 2700 rpm's for 1 (one) minute. This will allow
the computer to re-program your ECU.
After holding at 2700 rpm's, let the ATV idle for at least 15-20 minutes;
then turn ATV off and restart before driving.

+25 BHP POWER BOOST CHIP/MOD,GAS SAVER

THIS IS WINTER SPECIAL OFFER.RETAIL PRICE 69$
ATTENTION,THIS IS THE UNIQUE CHIP ON eBAY,REAL CHIP IS INSIDE

adding 25hp to a 62 hp motor without any mechanical changes seems pretty unlikely, even if it did work I can't imagine it'd run for long.......

dont see how attaching to your coolant temp sensor could advance your timing , your engine runs at the same temp wheather your out in +30 summer air or -30 winter air , i could see if it attached to your cps(crank position sensor) or tps (throttle position sensor) maybe , but to me it sounds like it might cause more damage than good.

Definatly post some results though , ive always wondered about those chips on ebay.

maybe technology has changed in the last year, but we tried to advace the timming electrically and in was completely impossible. Then we tried mechanically with not very favorable results

i dont recommend using this chip. I can promise you a universal chip will not work on a can-am. there ecu is like bullet proof and very hard to trick it. You could end up doing damage to it with this chip. do not run it!

I don't think I would trust a $4000 motor to a $69 chip. Maybe talk to somebody at BRP as well, but I know for a fact that I wouldn't do it to mine. An HMF pipe and controller will be a little more expensive, but a whole lot more reliable.

All that it will o is lie to the pcm about the air temp going into the motor. Cooler air is more dense and the pcm will inject more fuel to compensate. Im not a fan of just "fattening" up a motor without doing an exhaust upgrade. More fuel in really does need more air in also. Ive had customers where i work want those "wonder" chips installed on their cars, and i've not heard any positive feedback. The only consulation is that they didn't cost that much to start with.
