Looking at a 2007 GMC 2500hd 6.0 litre. Are there any issues with this new body style that I should be concerned about? It is crewcab short box with 3:73 and 6 speed auto. Any information or insight would be great. My last two trucks were 2003 and 2005 crewcabs. Was happy with both, no issues. Thanks in advance.

We have 2500hd's at work and i drive one (as a work truck). Mine is an 10 (LTZ)with just over 210k. Runs great but horrible on fuel.

Mine has had very minor issues (few switches) and as a company that puts about 75-80km per year they are great trucks and we have the least amount of issues with GM.

They switched to Dodge 2500 (hemi) for a year because they were way cheaper and now most of those trucks (11-12) are falling apart at 160km. Engines, diffs, trans blowing and lots of serious work.

Our trucks are driven hard on lease roads and extended idling so I am not saying that all dodges fall apart. Just we have had way less issues with GMs.

GM FTW

I think you will like the 07, I have not had any real issues with mine other than wanting it to be a long box. It is a little hard on fuel, around 14mpg but pulls good! Had a 01 Silverado 2500 with a 6L before and put a throttle body spacer, a cold air intake kit and a 3" cat back exhaust and gained 2mpg and think I might do the same to this one to improve on fuel economy.

Thanks for all the real world replies. I know that the 6.0 litre is a great engine. Hard on fuel. But for what I need it will be fine. Thanks again. I will throw up a picture if I pick it up.

I drive one at work occasionally, a 2010 2500 with the 6.0. Not a big fan. Drives like a tank and rough on gas.

Something wrong if it drives like a tank.... Mine rides like a Cadillac. But yes the mileage is not great.... But for a heavy gasser not bad

You think the GM's ride like tanks, I'm in a 2014 F250, (always GM before), that is the true definition of a tank, horrible ride/fuel milage comparatively speaking. I like the GM way better, haven't tried dodge yet tho.

I know its not a gasser but I have a 2008 dmax with 173000kms on it and the only thing I've had to do is the recall for the transmission lines @ 20000km. Good truck IMO.

2008 GMC - Dmax, 309,000 Kms on it. Only thing I've done is 4 shocks, one ball joint and front brakes. It's just like the energizer rabbit, keeps going and going. Truck is bone stock besides a levelling kit. No problems with the dpf or anything. I drive the bag off it too!!!!

thought about upgrading my 03, with 425000 km, and 8000 hours. interesting on posts on horrible mileage. my is the shortbox, hence small tank, 675ish km's running empty and 425 km pulling 4 place. for the dollars to upgrade i guess i might as well run it till ?
