I just rebuilt the engine and this thing runs hot!I double checked head gasket was installed properly.I checked water pump and it rotates when you crank it over.Topped up system and laid it over to get air out and topped it up again! No bubbling from leaking head gasket when running!Kid takes it out and it is so hot you can't touch head or hoses!Jetting and premix is on fat side!Plug is black!Premix has 3 litres of c114 and 7 litres premium in 10 litres jug at 20:1 oil mix!Im more used to 250 and 500's not these small ones!

You didn't accidentally leave a chunk of paper towel or rag in one of the coolant ports when you rebuilt it? How are the rads internally? Might be worth pulling them off and giving them a thorough clean inside and out.

You use honda base gasket? If it was an aftermarket there might be a port not open? Get a infrared thermometer and see what it's at. Not sure if you could touch the motor when at normal operating temperature or not
