08 brute 750i running poorly

So the other day a friend of mine fired up his brute after sitting for couple months and it just wont rev up. so last night we changed plugs and wires cause one wire was screwing up in the summer, but it had no effect. I took it for a ride down the road and anything between idle and wot it just backfires and misses bad almost wont run, but put the throtle to the bars and it pulls good and hard and runs good. Any one have any ideas, kinda has me baffled. going to go home and start checking some electrical but any help would be great.

Too much air. Happened with the wife's PoPo 300.

Well i thought i would update this. After doing some testing we have come to the conclusion that the tp sensor is bad. Also after phoning around found the cycle works is the cheapest at $80 every where else was close to $200.
