Watch out for this company" Velocity Devices Inc."

Well I thought the Copperhead, VDI replacement ECU would be a great upgrade!
Fell flat left me with a failed unit and no machine to drive! Thy should say carry your OEM part to use when ours fails! But no such warning!
I requested them to refund me after a miserable failure to produce a reliable "complete replacement"
only to receive this email:

If you couldn't figure out how to unplug our unit to install your OEM for your trip, then maybe you shouldn't be making changes to your machine. It's literally ONE CONNECTOR.

Your unit was 100% tested when it left our facility. When it arrived back, the harness was no longer working. We replaced the harness, and it's once again 100% tested and functional.

Feel free to sell the unit if you don't want it and take your senseless complaints somewhere else. We are not Walmart.

Lyle

Nice warm and fuzzy customer service!
Take care and steer clear of this guy.

Ha, I like this guy! It's a real trick doing tech support to tell the customer that they are an idiot and to go f*ck themselves AND make the customer feel happy about it at the same time. I'd be so fired with that kind of reply but sooooo tempted sometimes.

It's kind of the difference between the companies that use templates with legalese over legalese and other small print bullsh!t and the difference between the small outfits that reply like that.

Sorry to see your feelings were hurt, but at least he didn't waste any more of your time!

Good, how about you send me 400.00 plus and I will promise that your machine will fly like a genie then send you some magic beans that do not work, and then tell you its your fault ,attack your person and keep your dough and basically laugh at you? Sound good to you?

Did you expect that a $400 part was going to let you bypass a turbo install ? "Fly like a genie" ??? come on dude. You didn't actually believe that did you? Oh wait....never mind. I've spent the same money before and not noticed an increase. I really want to hear the other side of the story before I let some random guy on the internet tell me where not to shop.

I've had several dealings with Lyle and he was super !! The copperhead for the Suzuki / arctic cat 700 really makes a big difference. Add the m109r injector and you will smile.
Lyle really is a straight shooter in my books.

I do not profess to know much about a VDI - ECU nor do I fully understand precisely what it does, however I do know I like the sound of banging pots and pans.

What bike is it...? I have rode with many 700 king quads with the vdi setup and not one worked worth a crap.... Could never get it dialled in... For most people. Not saying it is a poor product, just not user friendly, it appeared to me....

I would of worked with him to get the bugs out..... , he knows his stuff !

if it is only one plug to undo.. then you undo it and plug the stock unit back in... simple.... they said the harness was not working and they replaced it and the copperhead worked again??? thats what they said... so then they shipped it back to you fixed, no? why would a harness not work ... did you do anything to that harness you should of not done... or the way it was layed... its sounds pretty simple to plug in one plug and route everything proper like factory... i wish we would know more facts here.... what machine do you own and someone said bypass a turbo?? you turboed??

and like Neville said... i have never seen one work.. with guys i have ridden with that had one... everyone of them had problems with it...

It is pretty simple, look at his site promises of improved everything, I followed what they recommended to do and purchased system along with new throttle body sensor. I was only looking for improved performance as promised. Instead my machine sat at camp and did not run. I only get 2-3 trips a year and when a "trusted" vendor offers you a product and it fails. Then agrees to review a refund only to later return the now repaired product then speak to you like has ...how happy would you be? Would you trust this so called upgrade over Suzuki after is type of experience?

Then more professional correspondence from such a "great" company: " You mail the unit back missing manuals, etc, in an untaped box, with ZERO contact info, and then requested a full refund "do to your lack of confidence". So if you bought a new truck, and a tire blew on a trip, the dealership would give you a full refund as well? Come on! The return label was a print out of the address Melaney sent you, with two little pieces of tape. Were you hoping it would fall off so you could scam Canada Post for an insurance claim? You then post a negative review on Google Reviews under a screen name (big man there, afraid to use your real name?) how we did the above?

All who read this, note they had an have my info.

Re: Watch out for this company" Velocity Devices Inc."

you guessed it King Quad 700. I bought the hype and good press only to have a poor experience. I lost my trip due to misplacing my confidence in this product. To even suggest to need to return to stock when he sells as a complete replacement product is a bit crazy. Others I have talked with state always carry your stock ECU for when this screws up. Wish knew that earlier. Again why would you need to if this is such a great product and a complete replacement? I returned back to stock and went out yesterday and had a great run with no issues. So not my quads issue. I purchased hoping for a bit more performance only to dive into a crazy town of disappointment. I was not interested in putting back on my machine and working with this company after such a poor experience and thought he would be a rational business man and know you can not please everyone and be willing to return, but instead his reply has lead me to sharing with all I know.

Re: Watch out for this company" Velocity Devices Inc."

well in sales you just do not treat customers like this, even if you think they are wrong or crazy, you should try and be amicable. Returning the unit
stating its fixed versus discussing what I his customer wanted and then attacking me, further to that blacklisting according to him my purchased product and referring me elsewhere for service in future .. give you a warm and fuzzy?

Here is more from VDI:

Your product, has been blacklisted for service and support. You will receive no further support on it. If you have an issue which you believe is caused by our product, I'd suggest you try web forums like NyrocATV first. They have a great set of people that are well experienced in our product. Please assure you start out explaining how pathetic our service and support is. That should get you preferential treatment. 2) If you reach a point where you feel that the product is not functioning, and needs to be returned for warranty repair (Expiring March 22, 2016), please PHONE us for an RMA number. Any product returned without full contact information and a valid RMA number will be destroyed upon receipt.
3) If the product tests fine, you will be charged a $50 testing and programming fee, plus return shipping.
4) During the testing and investigation, if it is deemed the failure was not caused by normal operation (IE you or a problem on your ATV damaged it), your warranty will be null and void. You will be responsible for all materials, parts and labor at our $100/hour rate.
5) Any product that remains in our facility for more than 3 months without payment for services will be destroyed.

There is no point to respond to this email, as it will not be answered.

Worked well on my grizzly years ago and they were great to deal with. I did my own maps though. Sorry but with that quad you are never going to get any serious gains. Doesn't matter what you do. But we need to hear their side of the story.
