Cold Quad Start?

Well, we just got our first BIG Dump of snow up North here, and I got all bundled up, put the blade on the quad, moved the vehicles from the drive way and... Quad won't start. :rant:

Anybody have any suggestions as to what I can do to avoid the problem of the Quad not starting during the winter months?

Or What I can do to make it start? (I'm Still pretty new to this whole Quad thing

)

No, It wouldn't, even with the choke out!

I put an Area heater under it for about an hour and it did the trick. It turned over like a charm... and the first experiance with a plow went over fairly well! A two year old could of done it neater, but I got the job done.

2 things that I found helped lots up here in Cold Lake with are -30 weather.
Run 0w oil in the quad and I use a Battery Tender Junior. It has a set of wires that attach to battery with a quick disconnect. I keep it pluggged in the wholes time I'm not running it, and it keeps the battery at a consant charge. Never over charges.

thats good that u got it running...im 15 but this year dad is gunna trust me to run the plow but today i couldnt cause i f'ed up my back lifting one of those 08 xp sled when it frozen to the ground...rember bend with ur knees not ur back

oh i for got to add....but instead of plowing i got to move all of the 5 vihicles on our property from drive way to drive way....lol

do you not have a pull start or a kick start on your Quad Anthony?

At work we always pull the quad over a few times before starting it when its cold. Also, consider running synthetic oil in the engine.

No kickstart, put it has pull start. I gave it a couple tugs, and it didn't do anything. It was -34 today, and our Garage isn't insulated, so the Quad was pretty cold. Plus I don't think I am running synthetic Oil, I might want to switch over.

if you are away from power and dont have a heater you can park the quad beside the truck and rev it up for a while. let the exhaust blow on it and you will get it going. thats kind of a worse case scenario fix, it does work quite well though.

You could try one of them magnetic block heaters. Stick it to you engine, heat it up and start the quad. Remove when not in use.

Mine started yesterday, but it really had to think about it. I have a insulated tarp so if it gets really cold I will put that over and use the heater.

Don't feel bad the first time I used the bobcat to do the yard it didn't look to good but the second time it looked like I had hired a pro. You will get it.

if the spark plug is easy to get at then take it out and then pull it over for a bit, that should help loosen the cranking,put plug back in and fire it up.
helps me when im out in the middle of no where with nothing

my 750 brute fired right up after i let the carb heaters do there thing, and then i primed it, and then used the choked and then it fired up nice. and it was about - 37 in the shed..
