Thinking of ordering these tires... Are bias ply 6ply alright? Better to go with a radial on the sxs?

They are a good tire, suited mainly for mud though, as i thought you were more trail hardpack and gravel?
They are heavy & but solid. Again depends where you ride and terrain.....

Ah was thinking maybe a little too aggressive for me since i'm not a mudder but damn it they come in the sizes I need.
Perhaps I should spend the extra coin and get some 8ply blackwater evolutions..

i have the st outback max, more of an all terrain mud oriented tire. i find you don't need to blast through the mud holes, pretty much idles through, get stuck, pull out winch , avoids a lot of broken axles, didn't have any last summer. i find the tires run smooth, great traction, not a real aggressive mud tire. great all round on trails. for where and what i ride, and from tires i have tried, they are a pretty dam good tire.

$1049 out the door

There are a pile of tires that are great for general trail riding (little mud), dozens in all sizes and shapes ....
A EVO and a outback are night and day different tires...for way different terrains.
One thing i am sure on is you wont have to base your choice on size, especially if you are in the 28 to 32 inch range.

Choices are endless....But you will not be happy with a mud based tire , on rock and gravel or vice versa.....for sure.

Hmmm, the Evo's in 28" are $230 each and the outbacks are $155.

Was hoping to go with an 11 or 12 on the rear and 9 on the front or does everyone just run the same width all around?

I have tried both. Skinny on front and wide on the rear. On my sxs I am running 9 inch all around

Personal preference.

Go with 10 S all the way around (for a # of reasons)....I would step up to 30s, for extra GC,while still maintaining reasonable weight.
Better bead protection on a larger tire side wall, particularly with a 14 inch rim.
Also , your rear tires wear much faster than your front (they will), you can replace the rears only.
I would call Rapid revolutions here in edmonton , they know their tires. They were a lot cheaper than that on the evos when i bought a set; than the price you just quoted. There are also numerous tires similar to EVOS that are cheaper & and just as good.
Hope that helps...

Better to over think than under think lol......
Once you buy them , you can always sell ...but you take a beating !
I would say #1 is knowing the terrain you ride most of the time ,then buy accordingly.

Ok well I think you have me convinced on going with 10's all around rzrgade. Blackwater evo's 28x10-12. Don't think I can run any bigger without a chance of rubbing although 30's would be even better.

Great tires , mine were good , not great in mud but real good everywhere else .
I would check if 30s fit though ? An EVO 30 only measures about 29.25 FYI .

Finally bought a set of Traxion Gripper max in 29x9-14. 8ply radial. Had to get new wheels though in 14. Oh well should be able to sell these brand new 12" wheels and tires with spring coming hopefully!

Ordered Outback XT tires for Mama's machine. I wanted the "XMR look" with skinnies all around, but the rear rims are a hair wider. So I have 27x9-12 front and 27x10-12 rears coming. I think it will work great.

Check out discount tire online. Even with exchange rate and delivery/duty they will usually still beat any prices you can find locally and they often have good deals too. They don't have every brand but a lot of great options.
