Anyone in Alberta have any experience with this oil?
Thank's
OO Zig Zag........Do your bud's at that rental shop rebuild engines there? If they do,their opinion on oil matters more
IMO.

Re: The type of people that say"oil is oil"

I don't know a hell of alot about oil but I doo have a bunch of great buddies that have shops and rental ops so I asked them their opinions this was the reply. Amsoil was what they have been using for along time with no issues. I get by with a little help from my friends. Thanks Al and Pete and Tim for the advice.

Any Amsoil in particular? They make 4 or 5?

On sale @ $39.99/Gallon
:)

Best: Spectro Platinum Syn-Sno Powervalve Formula.

This low-pour (-42F) PAO full synthetic lubricant keeps power valves and exhaust systems deposit-free. No brand burns cleaner; virtually smokeless. It can also be used as a racing pre-mix oil. Top performance in Rotax snowmobile engine tests. Meets all known manufacturers’ warranty requirements. Exceeds JASO FD, ISO L-EGD+ and API TC.
For use in (any year, no restrictions) – Two cycle Arctic Cat, Polaris, Yamaha, and Ski-Doo snowmobile Engines, including power valve and E-TEC Motors.

The first thing just about every jug of oil say's on it is this product meets or exceeds TCW3 requirements.I'm thinking to myself.WTF? Are you joking?TWC3 was a 2 stroke oil requirement for outboard motors in the mid 90's (from what I've learned so far)There are many company's that claim their product is the best there is,and it exceeds JAYCO FB standards.Again I say WOW,are you serious.JAYCO FB is one of the lowest standards there is.JAYCO FC and FD are higher standards and almost no-one mentions them, because their product didn't pass. What we the public must understand is that every time we buy a product we are in a way casting a vote.Company's that sell products that don't pass ISO-L-EGD or JAYCO-FD should not be "voted" for. In a better world nothing should be on anyone's shelf available for sale unless it passed the above standards.

To all hcs member's that use amsoil interceptor oil, I said to use it if you want, Look im testing the oil to see how they compare and i don't care what oil you use, This test is not to hurt anybody's feeling's because there favorite oil did not pass my test. Interceptor just did not cut it for me under viscosity, thermal conductivity of the oil, stability and stress, And drag reduction evalvation , so really interceptor is a full synthetic oil, Not in my testing, Im done.

Spectro did extremely well in the Chemists test

What specific Spectro oil did he test? They make 3 or more diferent oil's don't they?
BTW....that is what I ran in my sled last year.I went into the skidoo shop's in Wetaskewin and Camrose and I remember
several diferent bottles. There was a guy in the Wetaskewin store that REALLY seemed to be an experienced "sled head"
But after all of my jetting questions,I didnt want to hold him up anylonger with oil questions.
I'm just trying to educate myself as to what else is available locally and where it sit's price wise.

I have seen this "claim"on several diferent brands of oil.Is there anyone in the Industry that can confirm
or deny that to state this on a product, that it has been tested and passed by the above mentioned
organization's.
Or can company's test it themselves and "say" that it did?
That info would be really, really helpfull.

There are laws against false advertising. They may do the testing themselves but there is no upside in claiming that they meet the standards when in fact they don't. They would have to prove their claims in court if they were ever sued.

Re: The type of people that say"oil is oil"

From their site info:
Spectro Sno - meets API TC & JASO FB specifications
Golden Spectro sno - ? doesnt say anything about being rated?
Syn-sno full Synthetic - Exceeds JASO FD, ISO-L-EGD + and API TC test requirements.

Since it is a USA made product,I would assume 1-gal=3.78litres.Not 4.54 like our's.
