I would have to agree with papa, I bought mine six years ago from PA and they are still in good shape.

Picked up a set of dollies and that rear sled lift for 45 bucks. Also bought a bunch of other stuff so my 35 dollar trip turned into a 220 dollar trip. Sure glad that store is on the other side of the city for me or i would be broke!

I want to get a good set of dollies. Where in Edmonton and what brand do you recommend.

thanks

I have bought a couple, for some reason I keep breaking the castors on the pre-fab ones. Little ball bearings all over the floor. I got tired of that.

Now what I have done is gone and bought industrial rubber castors from "house of tools" (the pricing on castors there is about the best in the city, better than PA) and made my own (takes about 15 minutes). I think they were 2-1/2" or 3" castors. For the track I put three on 1'x1' or 1'x2' 3/4" plywood. I have also cheeped out and done it with 1 on a square of plywood but you have to lift the sled higher cause the plywood won't sit level.

For the front I made a frame out of 4 2x4's. With the rubber wheels the sleds move around so much easier and they are very strong.

Look at the ascii art pics below.

The () are where the castors go. The === and || are 2x4's The | are the skis sitting on the unit. The longer 2x4's are long enough to reach the outside edge of your ski's (side to side), space them only about 6-8" apart) then glue & screw two more 2x4, about 2' long ontop, just inside the skis (give about 1/2" clearance only) running from front to back, the ends should extend past the side to side 2x4s enough to mount the castors under them. Mount the castors under the top two 2x4's, out side of the side to side ones, that keeps the sled closer to the ground and makes this easier to get it under. The bottom side to side 2x4s should end up about 1" above the ground.

When I want to put the sled on, I just put it on the ground in front of the sled, lift the front of skis up and shove the thing under with my foot. If the clearance is right it will go in nice and not turn/twist. If the carbides catch too much on it, notch the wood where the carbides run. If the thing slids too much on the skis (some times slides out when you move the sled around), staple/nail some carpet on there for a bit of traction. I would take a pic of mine but they are under my sleds in storage. If you can't figure out how I built them, let me know and I will try to explan better.

Good luck.
