Buddy got bucked off sled in a ugly climb, sled rolled over him and snow packed in throttle keeping sled pined and on top of him, arm and helmet were taking a ugly beating till teather cord stretched enough to pop off and kill sled, said four seconds of hell, if he was not wearing it it could of been fatal for him, helmet, goggles and suit shredded..

That’s gnarly, I wear mine around my right wrist. When I’m not riding it goes on the flapper so I remember to put it on before I ride.

I try and preach it to the guys I ride with too, sometimes the listen sometimes they don’t unfortunately

Buddy and his brother were ditch banging in Sask.

Buddies brothers arm got sucked into the track and it ripped his arm off at the elbow and through it 100feet!

After I heard about that I always have worn my tether!

I never rode with a tether. At least for 20 years I didn’t. I realized the importance and always ride with one now. It’s kinda like a seat belt. Just get used to having it on.
I Started my kids out wearing one too and my son flipped his sled upside Down with one leg under the running board Last weekend

Believe me I am glad he had it on his jacket !!

My tether is attached to the waist strap of my Avy bag and stays there all day. When I’m not on my sled my dongle is dangling between my legs. Don’t give a **** what anyone else thinks...it’s attached to me all day...as long as I have my pack on that is.

My tether pisses me off when it gets wrapped around my bars but I still wear it. I’m thinking I might have to upgrade to a phantom or something.

Thanks for the reminder Fred, it is also a good idea to test them and make sure it's working. Last time out my buddies wasn't working luckily we did find out on a test and not in a time of need.

Thanks for sharing. I still don’t get why this isn’t on new Polaris sleds. This is certainly required safety equipment because all the TSS does is not work or leaves you stranded. I am learning that in the snow they are not all the same either. After experimenting with a few and seeing others experience the Tethair is gold standard and the Cat magnetic is best of the corded.

How sensitive is the tethair? If you roled your sled on a climb like this guy and you never really left your sled would it shut off? I am not sure how it works but it seems if your on top or under your sleds it’s no real distance difference.

This is how it's meant to be done, that's why they come with a clip on them that a pain in the ass to get on and off. You know, the one we all changed out so we can leave it connected to the sled easier....

It's as sensitive as you set it up, in seconds

New ones are set up with track speed and not engine rpm

They are slick, as good or better than stock tethers, and no stupid cord

i ride some pretty technical stuff. Cord has never once been an issue. unless i wear it on my wrist then it will get caught in the throttle from time to time. but on the jacket its no issue

If you wrap the tether around your wrist it doesn’t get hung up on the bars anymore.

I wear it on my brake hand wrist and that way it never gets tangled on me.
That's the way to wear it.....I saw a Karl Custer video where he explained why to wear it that way. I find if I end up under the sled I can just yank it off when attached to my wrist. When hooked to jacket have to find it.
I think those cordless ones just add unneeded complexity...keep it simple.
