Totally agree. Pyro and adjust for your elevation. Usually good with stock pilots/needle position. But usually can go up on the mains. Watch your temps with pyro and you can pretty well nail it it
There is a T harness BRP supplies that plugs into the 6 pin connector located to left of your coolant bottle. It has alligator style clips that you can hook up to a known good battery. It is normally used for diagnostic purposes at your dealer. Ask your local dealer.
Try plugging in the brain you got without worrying about rer/dpm. Plug it in and fire it up. See what happens. What do you mean by you think the timing is off with the other brain? If you dont have the key that was programmed to each brain it will start and idle but is retarded and wont run past...
Just a thought. Have you had a look at your RAVE cables. There is a step by step process to properly having them set. Improper tension and servo motor setting can cause the doggy performance you have explained. Worth a shot

Hey wondered how you made out. You diagnosed your issue here in this post man. Like i said previous i have seen the rave solenoid do this. Both on the 06 and all the way through to 2010 3D raves. All with different symptoms. My money is on your rave solenoid. I hate to sound like a broken...
I have the chance to get my hands on a CPI kit for my 2004. To me sounds like a fun project for the summer. Any ups or downs to the CPI kit? Note the kit was bought 3 years ago. Would there be some updated parts involved? Am getting the kit for next to nothing wouldnt mind spending the time to...
double checked manual i was correct i realize the difference between 06 07
06 was powertek
and they still used springs under the caps for closing as i said before
there is one solenoid not 2 like the 3Ds in the 800R
if you dont want to try it, dont
i saidd twice i have seen this before

still might be that solenoid not allowing pressure at all times
just did one that was surging on the top end and watched the raves, they would do close to the same as you explained. just more than once on that one. threw a solenoid at it wan way it went
no good reason for why is was faulty...
Best bet bud is to order a short block from brps rebuild center. comes with 1 year warranty. and depending on the shape of your old core they credit you up to 700$ for it. have never had an issue
800R wasnt realeased till 07
if i remember correctly they still use springs under the caps for closing and the solenoid allows opening
works on tps position etc. controlled by ecm
dont think it sounds like dpm issue. though it wouldnt hurt to pull it apart clean and lube it.
