well guys, heres an update. Reverse wasnt working because the battery was dead. trickel charged it over night and reverse works. :)
It appears that it is not taking a charge while the engine is running. Does this mean a bad battery or bad wiring? What can I check for the case of a battery not...
Im riding a 07 Skidoo Summit X 800 and have the same problem. I used to hear the starter at least try even when it wouldnt work.. now i hear nothing. its like the button no longer works. :( bad wiring?
originally yes, I found that if i unplugged the left side of the handlebars it started, however now that is not the case. The only difference that is made is when the bigger connector is disconnected.
Im at a loss here...
A month or so back, I posted on here about my fire repair job and am very thankful for all the help I had along the way.
On to my new problem. I am having some kind of electrical short or resistance that is preventing my from achieving spark, which I've narrowed down to be something in the...

Sorry, I forgot to update everyone!!
The sled now works!! What i ended up doing was disconnecting the connectors at the middle top of the handlebar, cleaned them out, reconnected, and voila! Everything works!
The lowdown since running it a bit.
Currently the engine light blinks (orange)...
UPDATE!!! I disconnected the cables at the top of the handlebar, and cleaned them out. reconnected, and all is wel now.

any tips on taking apart the harness to check the wires. I would like to remove the killswitch cable entirely to ensure its not that, thus narrowing it down to the handwarmers...
It only works with the harness disconnected. I took apart the killswitch and tried manually closing and opening a...
Been trying for while now to get my sled to start since replacing the oil tank and was having no luck. However, I have found that by disconnecting the handwarmers/killswitch cable, the engine starts on one quick pull. idle's great. But this is making no sense to me...
So, in order to start the...
Okay so heres the update. I have found that by disconnecting the handwarmers/killswitch cable, the engine starts on one quick pull. idle's great. But this is making no sense to me...
So in order to start the engine, I must disconnect the connectors for the killswitch and handwarmers. No here...
I have not pressure washed it. Will do that once I know its running.
I cannot get the spark plugs to spark. Gas is definitely coming in, and I also tried putting some gas in there manually. no luck.
Im reading that if you take the carbs off, your suppose to "Reset" the throttle positons etc...
Ok so I've gotten everything hooked up, bled the oil, and now im trying to start it.. however i just pull and pull and pull. it just wont turn over.
I have the battery disconnected right now but Im thinking I should hook it back up and try the electric start (ususally doesnt even work)..
any...
So, if you've read my Fire Aftermath thread, you know the backstory. Anyways, I've begun the good ol process of degreasing and wanted to see if anyone has any tips or tricks. Right now im just using rags and a degreaser, which for the most part works, but is hard to clean the tight spaces. Any...
The brake line is definitely crispy... Oddly the brakes still work.... However I am almost certain now that the fire was caused by the brakeline rupturing/overheating and the brake fluid spurting out. At first I thought it was the oil tank but it clearly wasnt the initial cause at least.
How...
