You can install a low range trans into a scrambler from a polaris xplorer 400. I think it is from 1999 to 2001 400 xplorers. If you want more info go to gen3usa.com you'll have to dig through the posts but there are write ups on guys doing this mod. The years I mention are for 1999 and newer scramblers, if you have an older one they you go with the older xplorer's 1998 and older (front chain drive). Hope this helps

wasookin around regaurding scrambler and found a few posts mentioning sportsman trannys bolting into scrambler allowing for low range. thought sportsmans were all shaft drive to the rear.
Do u have any knowledge of this Picked this machine up for my son last spring as it is an ideal sized machine for him as he is 12 with lots of experiance and any of the other machines seem to be physically quite a bit bigger. have a couple girls that will probably be riding this in future so thinkin a low range mod may be one worth lookin into
