2008 T-500 Cat. Electric start not working. Starting motor spins but not engaging into the flywheel. Need help.

Hi guys. My 2008 T-500 cat won’t start with the electric start. I thought first the flex shaft was broke but that’s not it. The starting motor turns but the gear is not goi g out into the flywheel.
