Buddies eco diesel air suspension packed it in yesterday in the cold weather. Compressor cracked and blows the fuse. Dealer told him they are changing out on an average 4 a day. Good for 2-3 years then bam! Low rider!

Co-workers did the same thing. It’s only a little over a year old and has spent more time in the shop than out. He thinks he got a lemon.

What I don't get about that is how come semis have zero problems with air suspension in the winter? I don't see how for a pickup they can't figure it out.

Part of its semis are outside almost all the time, less chance of condensation getting into the air system. Another could be that Fiat is using lower quality materials. The trucking industry’s been doing this for decades, light duty had some catching up to do.

Do the Rams use N2 like Jeep does?

Semis add air line antifreeze. Even my firestone air bags recommend using air line anti freeze in the winter. I think it’s 1oz per bag.

my 2013 has the air ride, and love it. It leaks down when its colder than -20*c and actually had to let it thaw out the other day in my shop, as it wouldn't pump up. It rides like a total buckwagon when the system deflates and stays. It normally will work once start driving it in these cold temps. They are nitrogen charged systems, so they shouldn't be affected by the cold weather, but they are. Had it in many times when it was under warranty, and they replaced everything, but it still does it. I don't worry about it anymore, as it eventually works when start to drive anyway.

is it the compressor that's freezing up and not pumping or is it the nitrogen not "compressing" into the bags?

I suspect its in the valving... I get a message that comes up and says "system compressor is "cooling" down"... Then when it does start working after a few minutes all is good again. Sometimes it says get air ride system serviced immediately.... Hahahahaha

That's what his says then it blows the fuse. Service manager showed him the compressor and it was cracked so was replaced. Like he said he does 4 a day in this weather. Its a design fault in my opinion. Needs a redesign. Its fine if you have warranty but once you are off its $1700.
