Hey Everyone. Anyone have/use the Delorem inreach? Thoughts? Thanks in advance.
You ever have issues with satellite coverage/reception?
The best device out there that I haven't had to use. Tested it buy texting home and letting family track my location several times. Never actually had to use the SOS feature. I should take it with me more often to places where cell service is sketchy. Particularly while traveling the highways in BC. You never know when you come across an accident and there is no cell service. If your in the backwoods I highly recommend you get one and learn to use it.
Great device. I don't care for the GPS tracking functionality since I have a dedicated GPS that does a way better job, but it is a kinda neat tool for letting others know where you are via the tracking feature.
I don't know if the newer Garmin (they bought out Delorem) InReach devices are any better or if it is just a fact of life with satellite communications, but sometimes the messages take a while to send. I usually find myself walking around with it for a bit before it actually sends.
While I originally bought it for safety reasons, I found it to be an invaluable tool for communicating our location when we're out random camping and don't all arrive together.
Is there a difference between the Garmin and the delorem or are they one and the same?
From what I have learnt they were the same, had same functions and ran on same satellites (iridium). As stated Delorem was bought out by Garmin and they have stoped making the Delorem branded ones.
Take a serious look at the spot x.Got it thanks. Going to get mine today. Pretty sweet little units
