first mountain trip= big learning curve

So this is how it went. bought a used apex 162 (tired of fixing 2 strokes). took it to mcbride along with my son on my old 800 mountain cat. son did great, cat ran great, arms fell off from trying to side hill apex!! apex for sale!! end of story

arms are getting better but i didn,t realize how much side hilling you had to do (saskatchewan you know)

LOL, they do need a little bit more body english. How much fresh snow were you in?

more snow than i have ever seen, about 2 to 3 feet of powder

And you had a hard time side hilling? With that much snow if you just lean it falls over.

thats another story I got the side hilling sort of figured out and then it would fall over and took two people to upright again!

Use your body as leverage to put it on it's side, and only arms to hold yourself on. Yea your arms will kill if your trying to pull your sled over. Coming from a skidoo 1000 which is not a light sled, had zero issues tipping it over. Move your weight around and the sled will go whereever you want it to with very little effort.

yup, thats an apex. LOL. Its a safety feature. That way you dont go out by yourself

I was riding with a friend on a skidoo 800 xp, and he finaly said GIVE ME THAT THING I'LL SHOW YOU, he made one corner and fell over and said jesus that thing is top heavy.

LMAO, makes it easier to throw around. When there is that much snow, counter steer and lean a bit. Takes getting used to. Especially if you were coming off an older sled. Rider forward riding is nice.

I loved the power and ride but i dont know if i can do another mountain trip?

the ol' apex requires a certain level of fitness and skill to ride and not feel like a 240 pound bag of hammered meat after a weekend. but once u figure out how to use your weight they are actually really easy to handle.

Sure you can, just need to get used to it. When I bought mine and rode it the first time, I thought I made a huge mistake. But a couple times out, you fall in love with it.

Sure you can, just need to get used to it. When I bought mine and rode it the first time, I thought I made a huge mistake. But a couple times out, you fall in love with it.

Honestly, don't cancel. Go out and have fun with it. Fall over, get up and learn. Once you learn to carve with it, and it wont take long as long as you don't get frustrated, you will like it. Also, the throttle is your friend on the apex. With that much snow, don't lean so much. You'll get it. Its a stand up sled.

I rode a 2010 pump gas Nytro 153 the other weekend, and I've never been so exhausted riding a snowmobile within a 5 minute time frame in my life lol. I don't know how guys ride them all day when they could easily ride something much less fatiguing haha. Each to their own though

because its a different riding sled. Its like when Skidoo came out with the rev. It was a love or hate sled.
