Not really new information, We were going to stay at Brazeau another day as the quadding and conditions were great. Great day on Friday great day on Saturday decided to play hooky and stay another day. Got up Sunday morning and found a helmet bag in the middle of the road, started looking around realized all the gas was gone including my little 5 litre can for chainsaw gas. also my helmet and my buddies helmet were gone with my chainsaw and assorted tools from our quad boxes. Needless to say we didn't stay:mad: Told the RCMP in Drayton( by the way Rocky Mountain house really looks after Brazeau Dam area) and they said that there is a group of youngsters (8 to 15) who go in packs and clean out anything that isn't nailed down. Chain your quads and lock up everything including gas cans even the small ones cuz they will take em. Be safe and and have an enjoyable weekend and nail everything down!!!!

We have camped the area the last 10 years.
Never had a incident.

We will be more careful now.
It just sucks when people do this....

the worst part is we have 7 dogs in our group and not one of them made a peep, of course they are all in the various trailers but still. The balls that the little bastards have is amazing.

We were in the campground but we were close to the road. We suspect that someone came in earlier while we were out and cased the area. I think the main thing is we got complacent and we took things for granted. Lesson learned is put your toys away after you play with them! Stupid thing about my saw was that my lock box was on the back of my truck did I think to put my saw away NOOOPE! DOHHH!.

Ive heard of a couple guys who set up alarms with fishing line around the camps at night. They touch the wire alarms go off. Also movement sensing lights set up on the trailers. Park the quads by the lights chain then up THROUGH the rims and around the racks if possible.

Lock your Jerry cans to a bumper or around the hitch of a bumper pull trailer.

Or/and buy gun

I'd be going somewhere else before I felt the need to turn my camp into Fort Knox before going to bed at night.

Man I get tired of hearing stories like these. Apparently the justice system doesn't scare these bastards, so I say it's time somebody put the fear into them. Set some bait then wait out in the woods with a rifle. When the thieves move in go for the crippling wound, then cut both the f%#ker's hands off and mail one to the globe and mail and the other to sun media's press release docks with a warning that says "this is what happens when you try and take things that somebody else worked hard for." That might make some would be thieves out there think twice before trying crap like this.

The thing I hate the most about the theft that goes on in that particular area is that the quads, bikes, sleds and other toys are just an added bonus for the thieves. These people are hungry, broke thieves and they break in to your trailers while your gone quadding. They clean your cupboards out and even take your pancake mix...I know. change from your ash trays and also your BBQ.

heard there were a shheeet load of quads parked in the trees, just by the highway south of the outwest campground. :p

sounds like goldie locks and the three bears.:d

high traffic areas will have more opportunity for thieves, run a cable through quads and lock it. or have a big figgin dog.
