I bought the kit used, and it seems ultra tight, dont need tensioner tight. It was harder the the stock set up to get on.
mitsuboshi g8m720 is the 3 belts that came with it.
any thoughts
So did some checking, its geared to 2.42 (24-58) the only make one, one tooth smaller gear(23) which makes it 2.52. The kit lists it with an 800mm belt instead of the 720mm that i got so im on the hunt for the longer belts.
More of a chance of snapping the belt in half prematurely. My dad just bought a used sled this year and it came with a c3 synchrodrive. The belt drive had about 400 km on it when he got it. I was riding it a couple weeks ago in sask and I snapped the mitsuboshi belt in two, looked damn near brand new as well. Found after the fact that the belt was a bit small, apparently the previous owner liked them tighter or got a good deal on some belts. Proper size belt on now, well see if it makes a difference
This is a common misconception. The reason for the tensioner is not for tension as much as pushing the belt around the top gear for maximum contact. These should run the 800 belt and should not be tight. We have the Gates 800 belts in stock.
I think the name should be changed from" tensioner" to "wrapper thingy with an idler wheel". It gives guys the wrong impression.
