EV Week in Canada in July spurred a number of new announcements for charging stations for electric vehicles by the federal government.

In Ontario, a $765,000 investment in Peak Power Inc. to install 117 EV chargers across the province was announced.

All chargers will be available to Ontarians by March 2023. Peak Power also contributed over $840,000, bringing the total project cost to more than $1.6 million.

A total investment of more than $2.5 million in the Manitoba Motor Dealers Association and Eco-West Canada was announced to go towards the installation of up to 400 EV chargers in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. The EV chargers will then be installed in public places, multi-unit residential buildings, on streets, at workplaces or at facilities for servicing light-duty vehicle fleets by the end of 2023.

In Prince Edward Island, a $2 million investment was announced to help support the installation of up to 250 EV chargers across the island.

The EV chargers will then be installed in public places, multi-unit residential buildings, on streets, at workplaces or at facilities for servicing light-duty vehicle fleets by December 2023. A federal investment of $55,000 for the installation of 20 Level 2 EV chargers in Halifax. Southwest Properties Limited contributed $55,000, bringing the total project cost to $110,000.

There will be 128 EV chargers installed in British Columbia from a combined investment of $1.7 million to two organizations. All EV stations will be available to British Columbians by the winter of 2022. The BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure also contributed $2.4 million, bringing the total project cost to $3.6 million.

A $3.95 million investment in Shell Canada was announced to install 79 EV chargers across 37 Shell retail locations along critical corridors between Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, with the majority being open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Hydro-Quebec will receive a $4.6 million investment to support the installation of up to 840 Level 2 EV chargers across Quebec. The EV chargers will then be installed in public places and on streets by March 2024.

These actual cost numbers are way too low. Someone else ( normal tax payer) is paying for all the new transmission lines, transformers ,permits, land and labor. This is why large solar and wind installations also seem so viable. Our home power bills triple because of these mysterious added costs.

This is just ridiculous the whole EV thing. Let this thought sink in, why didn't they just make an EV that recharges itself when you drive it simple. Simple answer; It's because they need to bilk the average Mr Joe/Mrs Joe out of some more $$$ for there pie in the sky castles and jet setting all over creation while creating the illusion to you the consumer that your helping out mother nature. Hence why they scrapped that idea of recharge right away and came up with "user pays" + never needs to go very far as there will be no charging stations in the boonie's or national park sites etc.. because it will take forever to get them there so therefore you get to stay on your farm or in your big city and do what the rulers tell you to do, just think of the Utopia you will have lol.

A few EV's have regenerative braking but from what I understand it is mostly viable with highway trucks. Add the weight of the systems on a average EV and it makes them more expensive and less efficient.

I also have read charging lanes built into roads so if your running low then move into that lane and charge wirelessly and then they will send you the bill lol. Not to mention everything in Chinada moves by truck/train and they run on ICE, can you imagine with power rates what they are at now just think of charging your car or them telling you that you can only charge on certain days yadda yadda but yet you can pay the exorbent fee's and then complain on social media or preach to the choir lol. This is not viable in Chinada without every single surf paying dearly for it and going no where in there EV.:( But yet some don't get it still;/

They did have the engineering of the EV that charges itself as you drive but threw it in the dumpster wonder why.:unsure:

Sorry, I thought this was headed down the perpetual motion rabbit hole.

Stellantis has a prototype car that can do this. Although it doesn't really get enough energy to drive and charge the battery, just enough to drive. Doesn't sound like a semi is feasible at current time.

The issue is cost, highways are already expensive enough without laying tons of copper cable in them to charge cars.

According to the article, in BC, they are installing 128 new chargers.................big whoopy ding! A whole 128 of those puppies as if that is going to really help.
That move is only going to cost the tax payer 3.8 million dollars.
Absolutely unbelievable!
