Rene StOnge - RIP Dec 9, 2018

SICAMOUS, B.C. — A Sicamous man is dead after a snowmobiling accident north of the Shuswap town.

RCMP say in a news release that officers received a report of a possible fatal snowmobile accident yesterday (Dec. 9) at 2:55 p.m. in the Queest Mountain Forest Service Road area north of Sicamous.

Police were told that the man had been guiding a group of five other snowmobilers when his snowmobile accidentally rolled into a creek bed and pinned him underneath.

CPR was performed by the group, but they were unable to revive the man.

Wow, only meet him once but came away liking the guy. Later, learned who he was and how well respected he was. My thoughts go out to his family.

This sport and these mountains have taken some very good people away from us these past few years. Rene St Onge may you forever RIP. You were looked up to by many, taught so many how to shred, and purely were just a great human being in all aspects. My deepest condolences goes out to your family. You will forever be watching over all of us. I feel honoured to have know you so well, and to have shared the mountain with you so many times. RIP my friend

“Follow me” will never be the same without you
