Octane for Etec

I've got a 2019 Backcountry 600. I always ride from home and I can easily access a card lock with regular gas but no premium available. I'm wondering if this is a problem to use regular? Who runs regular in their Etecs? We have a 2011 600 that we run with regular with no problem. Are the engines very different? Thanks in advance

It will run, but your check engine light will come on. They don't run well on regular.

Why tempt fate? There designed to run on 91, so run on 91.

I'm not sure but I think Etec’s are fuel sensitive. A friend had issues with 8 month old fuel 94 octane stored over summer. It ran fine after fresh fuel was ran through. I had an issue with 7 month old 94 octane, 3 gallons fresh 94, 1 gallon 100ll fresh av gas. Ran like poo, coughed and sputtered. Lost rpm. No solid proof but sharing my experience. Hopefully someone will chime in and confirm.

Thanks for the replies so far. Its interesting my 2011 600 Etec has been exclusively on regular with no issues ever, but I am guessing there are differences between the old and new ones.

Cap says 91, and no more than 10% ethanol
