Good morning. I have started a company doing off road recovery and hotshot (I stay out of the oil patch as a general rule) I have a well built jeep cj7 to do recoveries with a 12k winch, lockers, etc. You get buried, I'll come and get you. You break a sxs, I'll tow my off road trailer into the bush to come get you. You need something hauled or delivered, call me. I cover pretty much all of alberta and parts of BC. Based out of grande prairie. I have an f350 powerstroke for bigger jobs. Just a young man with two kids who is building something my kids can be proud of me for one day. Looking forward to this adventure. Let me know if you need anything. Link to my business page on Facebook. I appreciate the time you took to read this. Have a great week.

Congratulations Joey, I applaud the entrepreneurship. Please make sure you are properly insured for this venture. I can not emphasize how important it is, especially in hotshot/recovery. I would suggest taking your flagging course so you can add pilot car services, sounds boring but a pretty easy $100/hr

This is great advice, had a guy who wanted to subcontract snow removal from me last winter. He bought a new plow and an f350 and lined up a few side contracts. Then went to get insurance and they wanted $10k for liability insurance. He couldn't make it work.

We spend tens of thousands on insurance every year and I bitch about it every step of the way but like the account and lawyer says it much cheaper than a lawsuit.

Where I work our liability for snow removal went from 5000 last year to 25000 this year with no claims since the company started 30 plus years ago. The boss has notified our long term customers we will not be looking after them next winter. Hard to pay that kind of insurance when some winters we don't get any snow to clear.

Just a heads up, when U go to get insurance they will advise you to drop anything to do with the words “hotshot” and “towing or recovery”. These words will disqualify you from lost insurance carriers and leave you with what is called “facility” insurance. This is the most expensive and high risk portion of all insurance. I was in towing for 20 years and I know you want nothing to do with the industry when it comes to insurance.

Congrats,i ran Towing n Storage co,,since 1975,,started in Whitecourt with a 64 3 ton and had 14 tow trucks till 2012 when i stopped towing,, loved the businees, helping people, till my last used 2002 Dodge with short wh base Holmes wheel lift ,single line elec wrecker..it was built for multi level parkades in Edmonton by Cliff towing,,i bought 5 from them over the years,,cliff called me in 2011 and said he has this truck for sale..cheap..its not good for anything heavie than a 1/2 ton 2 wh dr,,was too short..so i used it for yr,till my Insurance went to $5000 a yr?? and no claims. i checked last week about insuring a tow truck.. co operators said about $10,000 a yr or liablility..not even the truck itself.. so much for coming out of retirement,, be careful out there,, if u buger up a customers $100,000 4x4, ,,better have insurance,, Merry Christmas heres pic of No 1. was at a auction last sprimg in Mayerthorpe.

have customer sign, work order when you show up! inform them you are not responsible for any damage towing them out. and have that printed where they sign the Work order. also have a lawyer go over your work order for further advice, on legalities
