I was scheduled for a charter last weekend in Rupert. It is a friend of mine. He went over 10 days earlier. Complete gong show. Fuel and bait had strict hours. 9-5. And then no moorage. So pulling your boat in and out every day. I rebooked in July. Even the Rupert tourism page is asking you to stay away until further notice.

Why is this a problem? Small community with 10k extra people between ports, lng and tourism and a local hospital with 3 ventilation systems and the community is asking for non resident's to stay away?. Ya the locals must be the problem

I fished Calling for the first time last Thursday. Couldn’t keep the walleye off the lines. Many triple hookups. I’m definitely going back.

When I want to feel good about my fishing skills I go to Calling.
Long drive though and pot hole highway - Cold lake the same distance and they have lake trout!

You can have super slow days at Calling once algae starts or you don't know the hot spots.
But most days have lots of action.

Locked and loaded here too. Heading to Rupert for a two day charter then back to babine for a week of sockeye fishing with the family. Trucks loaded and thermos will be filled before I go to bed tonight.

Well. It’s been a interesting 11 days. Lots of rain and wind in Rupert while I was there. So we lost a full day of fishing. Ended up just crabbing and prawning for a full day. Headed back to Smithers for the week and the sockeye fishing was great. The weather not so much. It rained everyday there except for one. It’s definitely been a a different summer I will say that. Boat ran good, and we were treated great just like every time I’m in bc. Rupert was business as usual and everyone was friendly.

I’ve been thinking of getting those, but with the rubber snubber built in. They would seem a lot more reliable that finding out your stop bead fell off when you hear the splash of your dowrigger ball heading to the bottom.

Absolutely, I had my stopper bead come off twice this fall. What a pain in the azz. Glad I had the fuses on the boat. I’m going to try these new rigs out. See how they work.
