The sad thing is if we ever wanted to withhold taxes from Trudop our utility bills are the only card we have to play.

I don't pay much attention to my utilities bills but they sure seemed worse this year. Just looked last month power was $133 gas $252. It's a lot but not enough to where I could be bothered to change anything. And not like I could change much anyway, i'm rarely home. My lights never get used.

These are my february electricity and natural gas. I just about flipped. Fees tripled usage cost.
Add water and internet etc to it and it’s the same price as the mortgage!

We are cleaning old paperwork today and I found this gas bill from 1998. Not many extra charges

Used to be, whoever owned the method of delivery, was also who purchased and sold you the product, IE natural gas., so most of the charges were just lumped together. Consumer groups and the governments regulations to produce more ‘competition’ forced those companies to separate the delivery mechanism, from the product. So now you end up with two separate companies you are dealing with to get your service delivered. With all the added costs of them having to coordinate their systems so you get one bill instead of a separate bill for the delivery, and another for the product. Hence all those charges that have nothing to do with the product you are using. Not sure it has made anything cheaper, but then when has governments dictating how companies should operate done that.

You heating a business or your house.
Whats with that?

That’s a 3000 sqft house and a 3000sqft shop, but the shop is set at 10c, it’s just storage, not actually work for the most part. You don’t wanna see the bulls from the actual shop, had 1800 just on gas at work, but 4 mil btu air makeups will do that...

I’ll trade any of you. Gas on the left, power on the right. January bills. Also used $2500 in coal

4 million btu coal boiler, slowing down on coal use now as the carbon tax is almost 100% on coal

Dahm. I was digging this week and found probably 20-25 tons of coal. Should have separated and sold it!

No natural gas here, 100% electricity for heat, hot water, well pump, shop, cooking, etc.
This winter it is about $280-$340 for electric bill. Come summer my electric bill will probably be back down to its usual summer cost of about $70-$90 per month depending on how cold or hot it is.

same here with heat pump costs around 2k for the year house and with shop at 5 C , no carbon tax but two tiered billing that may be eliminated
