That’s what happens when you have a bunch of clueless SJW’s running a country. Anyone with any life experience and common sense knows that there’s no way that can happen in such a short timeframe. They’re actually stupid enough to think that just because the say it, it will happen….

So what's the alternative to prevent this from happening, vote for the Conservatives? Erin O'Toole said back in April that he wants to keep the carbon tax, albeit at $50/tonne instead of $170/tonne, and wants 30% of vehicles sold to be electric or a hybrid by 2030.

No need to actively do something to prevent it from happening because it’s gonna be impossible financially and functionally to do it. Doesn’t matter who’s running the show. The only difference will be how many people will be driven into financial ruin by government policies…..obviously more with the liberal/NDP coalition.

We're talking about a government that increased the money supply in Canada by what? 18% in the last year? Last I checked the Canadian Central Bank was buying Government Bonds at a rate of $3 billion per week, which is down from $5 billion/week last March.

The Liberals have no issue printing money like no tomorrow, even if it induces hyper-inflation, currently though that money is just being given away. Maybe they'll make these freeloaders install car chargers, solar panels, or wind turbines to receive this free money?

what are the leaf lickers going to generate power with to meet that demand? nuclear? Grid was nearly collapsed last week on heat wave and that doesn’t include everyone charging 2 cars in the garage needing what 50-80amps continuous each. There is zero chance in 14 years that we are even close to that goal.

The answer will be modular power generating plants in each neighborhood running from natural gas. Now it is quite possible that these will be fuel cells that convert the gas to electricity. I am not sure if they can compete with IC motor driven generators but either way there will still be carbon released. The carbon could be captured and converted to something useful but that is definitely not cheap or efficient. The next problem will be the pipeline infrastructure to distribute the gas. For now each power plant could have a natural gas storage tank that slowly is filled during off-peak hours.

We live in the richest province in Canada. A significant portion of that wealth came from the oil sands, a trillion dollar industry literally derived from removing oil from contaminated dirt.

If there's anyone in this country that can solve these problems it's the hardworking people of Alberta.
And amazing our politicians can f that up.

Canada set to ban sale of fuel-powered cars & trucks by 2035

Canada will ban the sale of fuel-burning new cars and light-duty trucks from 2035 in an effort to reach net-zero emissions across the country by 2050, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government said on Tuesday.

Only zero-emissions cars and trucks can be sold from 2035, according to a statement, adding that a mixture of investments and regulations will help industry transition toward that goal. The government also said it will set interim targets for 2025 and 2030.

“We are committed to aligning Canada’s zero-emission vehicles sales targets with those of the most ambitious North American jurisdictions,” Environment Minister Jonathan Wilkinson said in the statement.

Britain said last year it would ban fuel-powered vehicles from 2030, while the United States has yet to fix a date. California, the largest U.S. auto market, said last year it would move to electric vehicles starting in 2035, and the Canadian province of Quebec has set the same target.

British Columbia is phasing out fuel-powered cars and trucks with a total ban coming into effect in 2040.
“We will work with the United States to harmonize fuel efficiency regulations and we’re investing in consumer rebates, charging stations, business tax breaks and industry transition costs,” Wilkinson added.
Trudeau, 49, has pledged to put Canada, the second-largest country by land mass in the world, on a path to net-zero emissions by 2050. Shifting transportation away from fossil fuels is key to meeting that goal.
Canadians broadly support fighting climate change, and Trudeau is expected to trigger an election as soon as September to rid himself of his dependence on opposition support in a minority parliament.
“Canada cannot reach our greenhouse gas targets if emissions from cars, SUVs and pickups, which are currently growing, are not curtailed,” said Keith Brooks, programs director at advocacy group Environmental Defence, who welcomed the move.
Brooks said only 3.5% of vehicles now sold in Canada are electric and that the government needs to do more to support the market for zero-emissions vehicles.

I will believe all this when i see the new gas stations popping up everywhere and the locals stay at home and foot the bill for the infrastructure upgrades, if they intend on going anywhere more than 100m from there house.
