Dark horse racing is back at it,I drove the 05 car tonight for the season opener.felt really rusty but slowly improved, qualified 6 ran 5 in the first heat but thought I was overdriving but unfortunately it wasn't the case as the first lap in heat 2 right front right shits out , bang straight into the wall in turn one, I guess the major push I was dealing with earlier wasn't over driving but the tire failing. I probably should have caught it but oh well, came in and luckily just body damage so beat it out strapped the hood down and it was off to the main event. Decided to start at the rear with the car being bent up and wasn't sure if there was other issues, started 12 worked my way up to 6 so overall a decent night, drove it on the trailer. I'll post picks of damage tomorrow.

Pavement, 1/3 mile but has a bit of a dog leg about 2/3 of the way down the back stretch so corners 1 and 2 are tight and banked while 3 and 4 are longer sweeping and very little banking.

I'd say ruffly 180 HP , it has a b181 engine with cold air intake, header, port and polished, a centerforce clutch but it's in the handling and suspension that make them fast. We run within 1 second of the bomber cars which run V8 s. We get up to about 110 kmh and corner speed 60 to 80 depending on track conditions and temperature. It's totally stripped and we use fairly lightweight steel for the cage, the channel down the sides is aluminum so it's pretty light. This class usually run racing tires but due to shortage they are making us run dot tires this season, slows us down a little but easier on the pocket book.

Ya there awesome little cars, they can take a good beating, handle well and the motors like to rev, I guess I underestimated the HP after talking to the engine builder today he said should be close to 200 HP with the mods he's done.

Well after 3 consecutive race weekend rain outs it's looking a little promising tomorrow at 50 % chance of shower's. Since we've had some time to tinker, got lucky and found a brand new tinted front window, the other one was cracked to ch!t. Added a stiffener bar at the back of the cage to stiffen up the back end, saying it's for safety since rules state no strut connectors so this is a way around that. New tie rod end and some paint touch ups and she is ready to go , hopefully we can get some consecutive weekends to really start dailing it in.
