500 was a better sled than the 583... seen several 583's that were EXTREMELY hard starting. Then 670's were good (96,97,98)

Our 500 was E-start cause it was my moms sled. The other 2 were pull start for me(670) and my brother(583). And dad on the 700 Polaris RMK.

Good times.

The 98 summitX was probably my favourite. The 98 srx was a great engine but the chassis of the summit was way more playful.

We had a 670 and 2 different 700rmk's and they were within feet of each other on the himarks. And the rmk blew up several times. Lol

Na the Polaris RMK 700 was the best sled in that timeline it would eat the 670! The 670 was a good motor but when the 700 RMK came out it was the CHAMP!
Ozone had one. All we saw was him making holes wherever he went? As a matter of fact before he proclaimed himself Ozone Dave we used to refer to him as Rut King! He could never quite get to our Summit X’s on the hill. 😂

The #1 best IMO goes to Yamaha with the introduction of the 485 Phazer in1984.
At a sub 400lbs and clean lines the Phazer was first in many zones we get to enjoy today, especially during mid season riding. Most sleds of the day had to wait till spring setup to get into some of these zones, not the Phazer.
More zones were discovered with this sled then any other sled plus it was known for its speed and reliability.
Many bigger sleds got their butts whooped by the Phazer.
I owned 2 of these, 1984 the year first release and a 1986 model year.
IMO, it was the first real deep snow backcountry sled and an inspiration to the other manufactures to bring a new breed of sleds to the market as we know it today.

I agree. The Phazer was ahead of its time. Fun sled to ride
