I don’t know the doo engine, maybe they should put a grommet or tape over this hole?? Dealer said it was a bolt that backed out inside??

yea, they need to do something but the hole is there for a reason, moisture and heat release. But it needs a screen cover or something breathable that wont get sucked in and prevent small metal items from getting in and making a mess.

Internal? Would have to be a stator screw I guess? Those are usually loctited

You would like to think so, apparently this has been an issue. Stator mounting hardware comes loose and piles up the stator and flywheel. It has happened to two guys I ride with.

Its possible that the Turbo is running that much hotter and is releasing the Loctite. All the hot charged air in the crankcase will make it a lot hotter. Loctite 262 is good to 300F and 263 is good for 360F.

I find it hard to believe my doo would fail just on lube consumption alone :) My 850t uses more oil in one day than my alpha did in 4 trips.
Pretty much every day when I come off the mountain my oil light is on. She loves lube

Update: motor ok, stator not so much, something fell apart or got inside the stator housing... maybe something lose from factory as less than 100 k on sled.

On page one this was a stator or bolt failure.

Sounds like my 17 had same issue with less than 100kmh. Dealer said nut and washer loose, took out stator and starter

I have an 18, and i had the stator and ECM replaced under warrantee this year. They did not say the cause, but i cant help but think running an aftermarket can may have something to with it. There is a lot of heat coming of the can in those areas. I have since expanded my heat tape coverage and wrapped my can with header wrap.

Just my 2 cents.
