Cataract Creek Area snow conditions and trail condition thread for 2022/23

Rode Cataract on Saturday with the Club Family Ride. Trails in decent shape considering all the warm weather. Everyone was riding easy on the throttle to try to keep the whoops from growing. Couple bare spots so I expect grooming will be limited until we get some more snow. Only travelled on...

    Current York Conditions

Hi Everyone, Looking to do a ride on the weekend to break in the new Indy Evo with my daughter and just wondering if someone could pass along an update on the trail conditions on the south side of the pass. I know snow has not been awesome but would be nice to know if its at least covered and...

ZR200 on its first ride with the kids

Had another day out at Cataract Creek yesterday and very impressed with the hills this sled can climb. Its no speed demon going up but if you have any base from a groomer it really digs in and goes. I am also surprised with the agility that my daughter is gaining on this sled as its not...

Calgary Snowmobile Club Ride for STARS 2018 is now active.

So just wanted to close off this thread with a quick result report. With donations and auction cash combined we came in at $4838 for STARS. Just a small amount short of our "Fund a flight" target of $5400 but very good. Special thanks to all those involved including our very own Papajake for...

Calgary Snowmobile Club Ride for STARS 2018 is now active.

Thanks Papajake for the note. The Crowsnow Riders did have to change the location to Atlas as noted. On a side note the rock issue is resolved so both areas are open, the change was due to other factors.

A big THANK YOU to all that hellped in Ehterington last night

Hope everything turns out ok. Speaking from a Dad who is just getting his own daughters into the sport it is comforting to know that we have such a supportive community. Kudo's to the folks who helped out.

Ideally, its much more fun to come and do the ride but if you cant you are still more than welcome to sponsor the fundraising ride with the weblink. We used to sponser individual riders but this year we simplified and you have the option to donate on behalf of the Calgary club or the CrowSnow...

ZR200 on its first ride with the kids

So attended the Calgary Snowmobile Club Poker Run last weekend and we rode with another 200cc machine. The club set out an easier small family loop which was awesome as it shortened the ride a bit and kept our slower crew out of direct interaction with the faster sleds for much of the day. Once...

Cataract Creek Snow Vehicle riding area official section 2017/18

Hey everyone, Just a note to anyone who wants to take the family out to Cataract for a fun ride. The recent activities have improved the safety and fun factor 10 fold over what we had in previous year prior to the flood. I was fortunate enough to take the kids out again on the Poker run this...

Calgary Snowmobile Club Ride for STARS 2018 is now active.

Happy New Year everyone. Now that we are past the holiday season and back to the grind I am resuming my efforts to get the word out for the STARS ride that is about a month away. STARS really stepped up themselves with a fantastic website for donations. Please check it out. This year our...

ZR200 on its first ride with the kids

I have seen a couple of things - adj jets and a pipe but so far that is it. From what I have seen this motor was originally producing 6hp and is now up to 9hp after the addition of a bigger carb and stiffer valve springs. The machine is already pretty light so i think any gains will have to...

ZR200 on its first ride with the kids

I will be really happy to see any of the oems come out with more product in this space. I am not that brand loyal and for the kids the important things are more around usability issues for them - small and light enough to steer, decent power and traction but not a 100km/hr machine, decent...

Cataract Creek Snow Vehicle riding area official section 2017/18

So feeling very grateful today and have to send a shout out to all guys who have committed so much time, energy, and resources to getting this area back on track after a long departure from support and then the 2013 floods. Without this outstanding effort I would not be able to enjoy this area...

ZR200 on its first ride with the kids

Another day out with the kids on the ZR200. This little unit is doing exactly what it is supposed to do - making the kids comfortable riding and learning new skills. My kids are already wanting to go faster which to me means success as the bigger machines would have just scared them silly and...
