It's hard to justify spending double the amount of money for a V-Drive over an I/O inorder to surf safely without the risk of falling into the prop. For myself it was a no brainer and don't have to fret the fact with my direct drive. Best of luck with the boat purchase.
I purchased my vario a couple of years ago from Rocky Mountain Extreme, they seemed fairly reasonable and shipped it out right away. They sent an extra cylinder and handle to test the pack at home, once you sent it back to them, you got your deposit back. I would buy again from them anytime.:beer:
