    ALBERTA BEACH AREA Snowmobile trails

Hey Dan, should have stopped at the house. I would have ridden the loop with ya.

    Ecoboost owners please read

No bickering allowed in a Ford thread. Answer to 2 questions.............. Cold air kit cost about 150, tuner 395. No custom tune just an ecoboost canned downloaded from BDog. I'm sure any of the commercially available tunes would provide similar results. I've only seen 30L/100 once in it's...

    Ecoboost owners please read

Kind of snickering up my right sleeve. Posted my trucks mileage and some thoughts in the "horrible fuel mileage ecoboost" thread and just left it at that. Now that another knowledgeable owner has jumped in with the tuner debate, here is my numbers and thoughts. Intake system (brand doesn't...

    Enclosed Sled Deck ?

In my 45 years in this silly sport I have seen 2 that looked like a workable solution. Both were 3/4 4X4 extended cab trucks, box gone, frame extended about 3 feet. One had what looked like the enclosure from the 2 place tilt trailer that you can still buy, the other was full on custom made out...

Best MPG in a truck / Ecoboost sucks.

Got 4 of the little hair driers in the family, my brother and I get 12 empty month average in summer, 13 winter. Hook the big enclosed up and 22 it is. The grandchildren both get 15 in the summer and winter. Hmmmmm. Nice fuel economy but that's not the big reason the old guys have them. Smooth...

To can or not to can

I don't often post here unlike my other passions (ATV and DS moto's) but here goes. Been at this silly sport since around the mid 60's when an Elan twin was the hot setup. fast forward to 2010 and a new 800R. Ran OK with the stock muffler but much better with MBRP quiet can. Fast forward to 2017...

Haul an enclosed trailer with a Toyota Tacoma

Your Toyota will tow a light two place enclosed well. IF as others have stated, you have damn good rubber and well set up trailer brakes. Go is not the problem, successful whoa is what counts. Oh yes and if the package is operated knowledgeably and professionally. Used to tow my 20' V nose with...

    1000 Renegade open front diff

Thank you as well. Yes there are switchable diffs available but at significant cost. As I have no need for a front locker, I'll pass on the mechanical locker. As an aside if there is anybody who wants a QE out of my 2012 1000 XXC, I would consider a trade for a moded old visco or whatever.

    1000 Renegade open front diff

Thanks Teeroy sounds like the plan. Neat to see somebody from my old home town helping out. Had a few scary moments at big speeds with the QE locking when one front wheel loses grip and the unit heads in the direction that the wheel with traction is pointed. If my Yamaha had bigger suspension...

    1000 Renegade open front diff

I just know I will receive some WTF responses to this but here goes anyway. I NEED to disable the QE on my Renagade. The unit is ridden almost exclusively in the big dunes with the odd blast on the frozen lake and some lease road running etc. No big mud for this old guy. The QE causes some...

    Prescription Goggles

Don't even think twice, just do it. I have used Provue for 20 odd years now. No more fogging, fumbling for glasses etc and now the biggy............................. no more terrain distortion from glasses moving independently from helmet and goggles. Quick straps also please.

How well will my truck handle an enlosed.

Depends on what your expectations are. If you want to tow your trailer through the mountains at 140+, the 5.3 is a little light in the loafers. If you run reasonable speeds, say limit +10 or so, you will be happy. I tow a 16 foot enclosed with 3 sleds in it with my little 3.5l V6 and no issues...

How are the ford ecoboosts for towing?

Grizl L Bar. See your from my old home town, we probably know each other. Almost fell off my chair laughing. Describes me exactly. 70 years old, had quint bypass 3 years ago, haul my 16 foot enclosed with the 40 foot diesel pusher (500 Horse). Or the Ecoboost. Only difference is I let my class 1...

How are the ford ecoboosts for towing?

Bull crap? Sorry those are real numbers. How do I get them you ask? Well I'm 70 years old, been a professional driver, advanced driving technique instructor, motorcycle racer, car racer for 50 of them. Same truck with different operator gets around 14l/100 average. So if safety and fuel economy...

How are the ford ecoboosts for towing?

OK, just have to jump in on this one. 2012 F150 Supercrew, 6.5 box, hairdryer. 50K on it now, 11.5l/100 AVERAGE for a month of 50/50 city and highway empty and no towing. 13l/100 winter same conditions. Now to the towing thing, 4 place enclosed, normal 22l/100 when keeping up to traffic and it...

    Dec 2012 snow conditions

Hey Barry I know you stayed away from home so you didn't have to help unload the doors. Just kidding, doors are in your garage and thanks for the drink, comfy couch and warm fireplace. Crazy good early season snow, visability on Saturday sucked, Sunday great. Trails in great shape. All in all a...

    Opinions on Suzuki DRZ400?

Reliable as a hammer, easy to service, starts great, quiet (stock), comfortable around town. Now the bad news, if you are looking for a trail charger look elsewhere. Great on fire roads, open smooth stuff but it isn't an MX bike with street stuff. Best street legal trail bike is the KTM. Pricey...

When did you start sledding in the mountains?

This is just too cool. The Motoski lineup was Sonic (340 free air rotary valve), Super sonic (340 liquid RV), Ultra Sonic (440 liquid RV) in the lightweight chassis. As for the Cross Country it came in 2 versions, one had a detuned 340 liquid rated at 48 HP to meet racing rules and the others...

When did you start sledding in the mountains?

OK, just have to chime in. First picture I see is my old 340 Motoski! Still have the suit. Started in 1974, still at it. Was riding for Tract Equipment when Ed and Don were there, followed them to what would become Cycle Works. Some of the stuff we built worked pretty well but a lot of hand...
