    sledding vs timbersled snowbiking???

Thanks for the input everyone, I'm going to try to demo ride one this season I think. From what I gather if you try to compare it side by side with sledding a sled wins and often that is the case because your buddies all still sled. If you treat it like a totally different sport and go play in...

    sledding vs timbersled snowbiking???

I dirt bike a lot and been sledding in the mountains 2 winters now, pretty good dirtbiker (track dunes hills etc.) and an ok sledder (took Dan Adams course last January and loved it). Been tempted to get a timbersled track kit for my 2012 kx450. Everyone I talk to that has them and also sleds...

Missing Fort Macleod Couple!!! Possibly Corbin?

Update; they have been found and all is good. They ended up going on a back road adventure around Elko and got stuck, broke into a cabin and found a radio to call for help. Personally I would have walked back out to the main road or at least set my car on fire (especially if I was driving a 97...

Best choice for low angle, lower avy risk riding Saturday??

I want to ride saturday but can't remember the last time the avalanche risk was so risky. I love our area but it can be hard to find anywhere safe to ride. Rolling hills and pipeline I guess. Even if you know somewhere safe to ride there are often risky areas you cross to get there. I love...

    west castle

three weekends ago a small area of debris over the trail, last saturday a pretty big area of debris over the trail and into the trees below a fair ways. With it being as warm as it is today and this weekend those slopes face E/SE I think so would not be surprized if there is even more. Could...

    2013 M8 vs. 2013 ProRMK 800

I have an 11 rmk pro 800 155, have been told the 2013 has some nice changes??? The way they handle in the trees is so much fun and easier to ride than my previous 3 skidoos. In the show room my 13 year old picked up the front and rear of the pro off the ground and he couldnt budge the artic...

Anybody lose a trailer on the way home today?

I had a 20 foot v nose enclosed aluminum trailer by wells cargo, 2400lbs empty - pulled great etc. but was always a big sail and tippy in cross winds. My brother was hauling it home in a cross wind empty and it litterally lifted off the back and started sucking him in the ditch as it began to...

    Recomendation?

would my fernie trail map show any of that region or where does a guy go to get some basic info, like where to even stage from. I like exploring but with only so many saturdays available a guy just ends up going where he already knows to avoid being disappointed or wasting a day trail riding...

    Recomendation?

Any recommendations for a ride from the atlas stagging area? Only been in the once exploring, seems like we ended up going west from the shelter and got into a nice bowl. Does the yellow line on the trail map indicate groomed trail? I've hunted up dutch creek around tornado mnt accessed from...

    Best Western Fernie

stayed there last weekend during zacstracs avy course, only stayed one night and pretty much kept to ourselves but seemed nice enough. Clean rooms, breakfast about the same as most, everyone seemed friendly and had lots of room for sled trailers. I had read this thread prior to going so...

    New option instead of SPOT

be aware of the significant differences betwen texting and calling. As far as I know you cant text 911 and unless you have the chopper pilots cell their numbers are phone numbers usually not cells. You would need to text someone on their cell who would then need to call and relay info etc...

    Which avalanche bag to choose?

I own both bags and actually inflatted both while geared and on a sled just yesterday for a friend who is trying to decide the same thing. The abs is excellent quality for sure, they are the ones doing research probably for the rest of them. Good bags, small canister easy to change and add new...

Avalanche Courses in Alberta - When/Where???

x2 for zacstracs, just took their ast1 (avalanche saftey training level 1) in fernie last two days and will highly recommend them to all sledders. Very professional and sled specific training, make sure you take the field day as well. I will go again with other memebers of our riding group...

Fernie notch and cabin snow condtions pics would be great

rode corbin yesterday, surprisingly good, at least 6-8 inches of fresh everywhere and up to 18 plus inches in the trees where the wind blew it all in. We were going to go in from fernie side but the guys we were with turned in on the coal road so we staged from the yellow gates, trail was...
