I am aware that Cateract in Alberta is trail only zone. I’ve been there a few times this year and I’m brainstorming on an area there that is a little more open opposed to socket in treed in trails

I have a buddy coming down from Edmonton and we are hoping to spend time practicing and teaching my son on carving etc

To save me some time...I have a good map so I was wondering if you guys could recommend a trail that has some open areas with little hills etc

Thanks in advance We will be there at sunrise , depending on where you guys tell me to go either , etherington or Cateract

The cut blocks are great once the snow fills in and sets up .

Having hiked up there in the summer and seen how high they left the stumps I’d say riding those cut blocks might best be saved for later after a lot more snow has fallen. On the other hand, there are several open areas along the trail earlier on that if there has just been a big dump, you could dip into to practice. That is on the trail out of Cataract.

We were out yesterday and there is not enough snow to get off trail. I saw quite a few rocks and stumps that had been exposed by sleds because there is no base. I sure wouldn't risk it yet.
