I never did, until my wife worked at a lounge where the waitresses would have to tip a percentage out the cooks on the total food sales. So if she had a bunch of take out orders and didn't get a tip, she would have to pay the kitchen out of her own pocket. Not sure if this is everywhere or not.
The Canadian Brewhouse is that way too.

I supply the food service industry and I get phuck all for tips.
I supply the food industry with patronage and I stopped patronizing because they are to spineless to not see that an unvaxxed patron is no different than the unvaxxed server, who is serving in terms of risk. phuk the restaurants that comply, and forget about tipping anybody for stupidity till they start standing up for all their clientele vaxed or unvaxxed!

Kanedog is funny as phuk. How ‘bout just be a good human being?! When I tip... I give cash. The money I give to the server is for good service. If the meal was good, I’ll tell the server. Now that I’ve given a substantial cash tip, the server can decide if they’ll share that with the cook. If they don’t have brains enough to be good humans to one another, then they are just like the rest of the azz maggots on this planet!

"Oh don't worry you did a shitty job but here's an extra $50..... Lol
I was speaking to the way it was presented where as if the server deserved a tip for great service then I don’t like dining with people you look for ways to get out of tipping?

Yes, all staff get to participate in the tip jar. Divided up at the end of the day. Dish washers, buzz people, hostesses, waiter/esses, bartenders, chef and chefs helpers, etc.. One of our son's girlfriends was a waitress at Earl's and Joey Tomato and when the movement came in, she wasn't a happy camper. Whether they changed the system to a percentage or not (less for the dishwasher and those not serving the public) I don't know.

I’ve worked in several chain restaurants in my youth. It doesn’t work like that....as a server you pay a small percentage of your overall bill sales to a tip pool for kitchen staff....the kitchen staff make f all in tips. Servers walk away with cash in hand and lots of it compared to the back staff...don’t ever feel sorry for servers..
Thanks for clarifying.

I agree, and only tip based on service. The better looking the better job they better do.
It's funny if a person flies to Australia and as soon as you land in BIG bold letters there is a sign..."welcome to Australia, WE DO NOT TIP!"
True story, Ive seen it with my own eyes when I went in 2005

So lets just dump on one of the hardest hit people because of covid.
Most Restaurant worker didn't get paid great before covid and many lost their jobs or had their wages cut big time because of covid.
But they are spineless because they need a job.
" they will get nothing from me."
They are not the ones spending thousands to go sledding.
I started to tip even more since covid.
Yes if it is really bad food or service I will not tip.

Since the restrictions started i just dont eat out. Nothing personal, im just not allowed out in public.

Bit of a shift , because i use to eat out almost every day. But im getting to be a pretty decent cook!

If i decide to order out, ill get it delivered.

Delivery guy gets a tip. If they share it or not, dont care.
