Ford and Dodge both made them. I'm finding some smokin deals on Gen 2 Dodge 2500's in Sask and Manitoba

I realize that they are 20+ year old trucks, but some are in damn decent shape with less than 100 ,000 original Kms

BEASTS. Big power, big fuel intake. Had issues with intake manifold gaskets, probably a bulletin on that. Plus, gen2 dodges about best looking truck out there. - go get one! :)

Great power. As mentioned some need gaskets.
Drinks less fuel than some people drink beer

Be a great purchase

The fords weren't great, big drinkers of fuel... basically just a 5.4L with a couple extra cylinders. The earlier years 99-04 had issues with spark plug threads, later years was the whole cam phaser saga.

Doug, I think Matt & Rhonda's red dodge was a V10, you could text or crackbook them too?

We had a few v10 Ford and dodge welding trucks. The Ford were as gutless as they come. Couldn’t pull a limp dick from a pail of lard. But we’re actually tough and reliable. But hard on fuel. Dodges had more power and were better on fuel and just as reliable. One guy had headers and a few other goodies on his and it pulled hard. When he retired that truck it had well over 400k on it. Had a welder in the box from day one.

A buddy has a fiat V-10. Decent, reliable engine, but of course the truck it’s wrapped in is a junky unreliable POS. Typical fiat failures….transmission, front end, brakes and electrical system. Several Fuel pump failures due to low voltage condition caused by voltage regulator controlled by pcm…and the list goes on….buying a 20 year old anything is a crapshoot, buying a 20 year old chrysler is a guaranteed disaster. they're Cheap to buy for a reason.
Most class c motor homes built in the last 20 years have versions of the Ford V-10 under the hood of the econoline motor home chassis….they’re nothing spectacular power wise, and like most bigger gas engines, are hard on fuel, but they’re reliable and last well in a service that is by its nature hard on mechanicals.

You do realize fiat has nothing to do with those trucks?

I'm completely stumped as what to do???? I love the gen2 bodies, but am hesitant with 25 year old truck.......

But if you look at the prices of an 08-09 Chev/GM with 300 thou +K and still wanting 20 Large, A 96 Ram doesn't seem like a bad option

FML........ LOL

I used to own a '99 2500. Loved that truck. Torque like crazy, but it it was only a 2wd. A friend worked at a Chrysler dealership. Asked his opinion about it before we bought it. We still laugh about his reply......
"It'll pass anything on the highway....except a gas station! Great motors, just uses more fuel than the space shuttle."
Funny thing was, i really didn't find it really bad on gas.
My pooch is sitting in it in my avatar....loved them both

Still one of the best looking truck body styles IMHO.
