I had a very similar situation this spring, got code p1471. Dealer said it was due to a broken wire in the main wiring harness, ski doo wouldn't cover it under the B.E.S.T. warranty. I 100% agree with you that wiring is not a wear item. There is no way it should fail within the warranty...
