ABS pipe is out to lunch the main supplier in Etown has told all distributors they are on an allocation only and that is creating a frenzy amongst companys looking to stockpile but can't because they can only have 10% of what they want to make it fair amongst company's.

This is a big part of the issue, no different than toilet paper, a bunch of companies hoarding the material they can get whether they need it or not.

Well ABmax all i can say is i know plumbing Contractors have been told they have an allocation only and that's it, you can have lots of fittings as those are coming in from china but no pipe so there really is no point without pipe. I understand everyone likes to keep there men/women working by trying to stockpile but they can't as there is none to be had unless your willing to pay a kings ransom for the chit, which no one with economic sense will do. This dam house building has to slow down at some point i cannot believe the amount we have built in the last 2 years and have not slowed down. Who's buying these overpriced homes no one in my view as you will never own them, and only rent them forever i guess. Because really they are well overpriced along with everything else to build it, one helluva taxbase when you have 3 homes on 1 lot 2 skinny's/garage suite wow. And they only biught the lot for 300k and want 725/750k for the skinny's.

Yup, our plumber said the same thing. Starting to see in stores no stock of certain things. I've heard rumor's that food is going to start getting short also, I don't care if I starve to death, as long as I don't catch covid. What a joke.

There is NO shortage of food, many manufacturers of canned and dry goods still have an over abundance of stock from 2019 and have already made food that it's best before is 2023

My deck guy said floor joists are done. Will build out of 2x10's but they are getting short of supply he said. Houses will come to a halt
This is another myth, there is no shortage of TGI's. But an actual overage of TGI's.
High River auction must have had 500+ TGI's last week, and different sizes and went cheap, in comparison to 2x10 or 2x12

Not picking on you Ken, just using your post

I'm just passing on what my contractor told me. Would building supply stores be selling excess by auction? Auction would be different than a lumber yard with new product wouldn't it?

I was there 2 weeks ago and took a look around, all the package were new and so were the TGI's. One of the fastest ways to get rid of something, is through the auction.
We just picked up our stuff yesterday from the auction and Jacky got a bunch of brand new never opened crock pots, slow cookers and stuff like that. I got 400 sq ft of brand new astro turf

Lots of lumbermen on here.. so who’s making all the money with this price of lumber at these stupid prices

Is it the manufacturers, logers, trucking, processing.. or is everyone living very comfortable

Coming from the ag farming side there is usually one sector that is gouging the others, making the biggest cut of the pie

Looked a building a new home and was 50k more they said then a year ago..

Wild times

Who is raking in the profits? Well in BC, the government itself is doing very well as stumpage is based upon the selling price of lumber, so their take in the game rises equally with the price. The mills are doing very well, as lumber is market based pricing, although the are writing big stumpage checks, pretty much every mill is turning very big profits.

In our region the loggers and truckers are doing very well. Because all the mills are running wide open there is an increased demand for the raw logs, and with forestry having gone through a downturn the past few years there is a shortage of quality loggers. As a trucker my rates have increased, obviously not to the level that lumber has jumped up, but we have gotten rate increases and there is as much work as you can handle.

Don’t mind me asking what does a truck hauling logs for 12 hrs make a day?

As for comparison in ag a 2000$ gross day for a supper b truck/trailer is a decent day for that many hrs

There will be if everyone keeps being driven into the poor house and loose everything because of this scam. Give it time, I'm guessing we will see one in the future. Hope not.

127.9 for regular here.

Strange times, finding products is not a easy task at the moment, there are new cars and truck half built sitting at the factory due to parts shortage. I heard 2022 vehicles will have less options, and a factory order may possibly be 8mths out.
Someone told me he had to pay 75% for a hot tub up front with no delivery date.
Finding diesel trucks is a challenge, especially finding a dealer will to sell it for less than MRSP.

No wonder companies are now starting to offer premiums and incentives for employees who get the vaccine.
