Lots of lumbermen on here.. so who’s making all the money with this price of lumber at these stupid prices

Is it the manufacturers, logers, trucking, processing.. or is everyone living very comfortable

Coming from the ag farming side there is usually one sector that is gouging the others, making the biggest cut of the pie

Looked a building a new home and was 50k more they said then a year ago..

Wild times

Kanedog 2015-2019, thanks for the good times S&M!
My fave beer Heineken, is not in short supply. But the quality sucks. Some cases taste ok, some are kinda flat but not even close to what it tasted like 2 years ago. It’s important it is brewed perfect cuz in all honesty, it tastes like crap if it not a perfect -1 and brewed perfect.

Yeah bad time to do anything. Reno's, home builds, new machinery, new vehicle, new toy. Keep your money in your wallet till this is over or prepare to pay through the nose.

We were planning a new home build have put things on hold to say the least, started as just lumber an increases now include plumbing, electrical, exterior materials and the clincher trades are jacking up rates... has to be a crash at some point likely on some interest rate bumps off inflation coming. Talking with some Montana friends they said home prices have sky rocketed as well.

Pre cuts here - cut and milled in province - have gone up from $3.25 to over $10. Local supplier said his costs have gone up 270% in a year and local cutters / truckers didn't see any increase not did the province get any more access fees so looks like it's the manufacturer. Yes demand in US is up so its an opportunity to make some gains. Other than travel, covid didn't cause major shut downs here compared to other regions so it's a convenient excuse to gouge.

My electrician told me a roll of 14/2 wire is now $200. Year and a half ago I think you could pick one up for 50 or 60 bucks. numerous home builders can no longer get i-joists so they're considering going to web joists. Big suppliers for lumber in Edmonton told their smaller builders they can no longer Supply them with floor systems. I'm hearing developers can't get ABS to put in the services in new developments, so now Builders are going to run out of lots at some point on top of it all. Crazy times

Been hearing alot about shortage's due to covid. Plumber's are having a horrible time getting 2" pvc pipe, electrican's having issue's with getting electrical house wire. I have to replace my hot water tank and almost every plumber I called said they will have to call their suppliers to see if they have any tanks left. It's a 40 gallon hotwater tank!! What other shortages have people heard of?

There are only 3 resin manufacturers that supply pipe/fittings in the world, 1 in Texas seems it had a fire and is closed down hmnn, 1 in Korea and China just bought that 1, and 1 in China hmnn see how this is going. HW tanks are in short supply as well especially the 50's still quite a few 40's on hand and around but most RPL's take the 50's and bigger and the builders/plumbing Co, are trying to secure them. ABS pipe is out to lunch the main supplier in Etown has told all distributors they are on an allocation only and that is creating a frenzy amongst companys looking to stockpile but can't because they can only have 10% of what they want to make it fair amongst company's. But once it's gone it's gone and you cannot get anymore from the supplier until the following month and customers allready have back orders in from the previous month. As for these house builds well i am not sure who is buying these so called over 500k city homes but with the price of wood and no floor systems, pricing on pipe/wire, things might have to slow right down. U can pour all the foundations you want just not put any walls up or electrical or plumbing in for awhile. Hyperinflation at it's finest hour coming in like a freight train:(
