Starlink is on order!
To apply for the Starlink beta go here....

https://www.starlink.com

If you need help with the rural address in google maps feel free to PM me.

Starlink app is on the App stores for both iOS/Android. It has a feature that lets you use your phone camera to determine if the location you are mounting the dish to is obstruction free.

The antenna cable is 100 feet long and you need a 3/4" hole to fit through if you are bringing it though a wall. We are in a very high wind area so I will be doing a ground mount.

If you want to do a quick test of your current connection speed check out...

http://www.fast.com

Our high speed is currently 2.3 Mbps so even if we are on the low end of the 50-150 Mbps speed we will still have a gigantic improvement.

Bought it. I thought I saw on Reddit that someone really close to 51 degrees north got a beta invite.

I'm waiting for mobile connectivity so I can upload sweet pics from the mountain top. I bet it is just a matter of time.

What does the dish look like that you install? Just wondering if it is a traditional satellite TV shaped dish and has to be mounted facing straight up, how it will work in rain and snow events.

To me it's the Latency of Starlink that I'm interested in, I get 130mbps with basic internet at my house, but about 100ms latency to almost any server outside Alberta, Starlink is showing latency of under 30ms in a lot of their tests.

Just plug it in and it will align itself. It also does have a heater built in and will work with snow and ice on it (with reduced speed). Rain does not seem to be much of an issue either. Was a bit worried about wind and wanted the ability to clean snow/ice off so my plan is to mount the antenna on a 55 Gallon plastic drum full of water.

I think it's a similar idea to how your cellphone works while you are driving along at 120kph on the highway. The phone and the network infrastructure are smart enough to switch the physical communication path while keeping the data flowing seamlessly end to end.

I'm on the list for the beta when its available in my area, very interested in something with lower latency than what I have now, and better up/down speeds......

I ran the speed test and rocked a 3.2Mbps....I can see the lights of Calgary from my house and don't have a great option for internet, this looks like a good solution.. Xplornet or the Hub haven't been great as they aren't reliable. Satellite is usually quite expensive when you do use it....Any idea what the receiver will cost and monthly plans might be?

$649 for the hardware and $130 a month for the service. My hardware is supposed to be here today so maybe I can do a before and after speed test for tomorrow.
