Hey guys, first winter running Superclamps on my deck. Center hook seemed pretty easy to instal, but what should I do for the side ones? There are no support tubes running where I think the hooks should be installed. Is running it through the 1/2” plywood sufficient?

You should use backing plate or what I did was use washers that are about 2 inches wide on all 6 holes

That doesn’t look like it would be ideal for the side ones though cause the wood already needs to be notched for the hook when the sides are in. I don’t really want to cut out a 1’x1’ square lol

lol turn it 90 deg.

But yes, big washers as backing works. Not sure how or why someone would design a deck without support for all the deck hook locations.

Got one inch treated plywood , very solid and the tracks make your tie downs adjustable

I would use a 10” x 10” square piece of 1/4 inch aluminum plate on the bottoms and through bolt it I wouldn’t want to rely on washers. Jmo

If it tugs hard enough too pull those washers through 1 inch plywood I’m guessing there won’t be much of anything left lol

im with ya there. I put the same tracks in my trailer into plywood with big screws and we’ve reefed on sleds like crazy and they haven’t budged with the superclamps holding them down. Tons of rough roads and a million bumps still all good...

It’s also a big upgrade from 1 inch ratchet straps which break way before the rails would let go .

I already have the deck style hooks bought already. Think I’m just going to put some 6x6 aluminum or steel plates underneath. Like you guys said, if that rips through I have bigger problems lol

Instead of the washers, a better safer solution is at canadian tire you can buy 1 to 2 foot flat aluminum, get a piece and drill it where the super track holes are and do the same as above, but the aluminum is a full backing plate and something we recommend. If you use just the regular deck hook, it is also a good idea to use a half foot of the aluminum, half a foot for each side one. cheers dave
