So what do we have for ranges in the edmonton area now? Heard there was a new one opening up close by but don't remember where. I emailed sherwood park for a pass but never get emailed back. Thinking about getting back into shooting and with my restricted guns that means range only.

The Sherwood park range looks like the best I've seen in my research, but only allow so many members. You need to mail in an application form on January 1st. Mine was in early and was returned to me saying all the spots were filled.

The others appear to only cater to shotguns and clays.

There's always indoor...

I used to belong to the sherwood park range for a number of years then one day I went in to renew it and they said all spot are filled and that they capped membership. Have never been able to get back in. It was an awesome range.

There's kind of a "back door" into the Sherwood Park range, however it will take almost a year to get in now, but this is about your only guaranteed way in.

Get yourself a regular (or regular family) membership for this year. You won't be able to use the range, but you can use the rest of their facilities out there. (Archery range, camping, etc) In September - October, when they mail out your renewal form, you just "upgrade" to the range membership.

Easiest way. And I know it works, cause that's how I got in this year.

I had never been out there until the orientation a couple of weeks ago. I must say, it's very impressive. Glad I signed up.

Awesome. That is what i will do then. It kinda sucks because I spent a lot of time out there and then all of a sudden without warning I'm shut out.

You could try Genesee range. It's a bit of a drive if you live in Edmonton but it's fairly quiet

Sure love the new one the Calgary District Target Shooters built out by Milo. 2 mile drive for me to multiple pistol bays, 5 rifle ranges from 50 yards all the way out to 500 yards right now with a new plinking range just completed and trap shooting ranges in the works. Archery range as well. Covers 160 acres of land.

snopro, I didn't put two and two together, I should have recognized the Milo in your profile as being close to the range that hosts a bunch of 3gun matches. I haven't got out there yet though, a bit far for me to make a one day trip to a match.

I would be nice if there were some long distance ranges closer to Edmonton.

I've heard that the Genesee range has an either 800m or 1000m range, but the CFO is still having some sort of issue with it, so it's temporarily closed.

I've heard it has been temporarily closed for like 2 years now, so I wouldn't hold my breath.

Back door gun control, slowly take away places to shoot, especially restricted

Well I joined Phoenix Gun range today. It is close to work and will get me shooting until I can get into an outdoor range again. Sounds like my new rifle is getting shipped out next wednesday so I needed to get my range pass going and me ATT up again.

Nice! Maybe I'll meet up with you one day for some shooting. My AR is almost finished, and my Tavor should be here on Tuesday or Wednesday.
